Who is Dina Eastwood?
Dina Eastwood is an American media personality – a TV reporter, news anchor as well as an actress, who is probably best known as the former spouse of the four-time Oscar-winning American actor, producer and director Clint Eastwood. Additionally, she is widely recognized for her appearances in the TV reality show “Mrs. Eastwood & Company”.
Early Life and Education
Dina Marie Ruiz was born under the astrological sign of Cancer on the 11th July 1965, in Castro Valley, California, to Mary Lou and Michael Ruiz.
Apart from being of American nationality, Dina is of mixed ethnicity and ,has German, Irish and some English ancestry through her mother, as well as Japanese, African-American and Hawaiian descent through her father’s side.
Upon matriculating from Mission San Jose High School, in 1983 she enrolled at Ohlone College in California. During her studies there, Dina was in charge of anchoring the “Newsline” broadcast at the Ohlone College Television. She then transferred to Arizona State University, before enrolling at San Francisco University from which she graduated in 1988, earning her Bachelor of Arts’ degree in broadcast communications.
Career
Dina’s professional career started in 1990 when she joined the NBC’s affiliated TV station KNAZ-TV in Flagstaff, Arizona, as its reporter. She steadily climbed the ladder and was appointed as its news anchor before relocating to Salinas, California in 1992, where she joined the ABC’s affiliate station KSBW. She honed her professional skills as its news anchor for the next six years, before she announced her retirement in 1997. However, in 1998 Dina hosted the California Teacher Association’s television show “A Quest for Excellence”
In 1999 Dina made her on-screen acting debut, when she was cast for the role of Wilma Francis in Clint Eastwood’s crime drama movie “True Crime”. In 2000 alongside Peter Funt, she appeared as a co-host of an episode of the TV reality show “Candid Camera”. Dina‘s next acting engagement came two years later, when she appeared as a reporter in another Eastwood film production, the 2002 action crime drama movie “Blood Work”.
In February 2011, she briefly returned to the small screen as a guest-anchor of the KSBW’s newscast broadcast.
After appearing as Vanessa Reese opposite Josh Hutcherson and Lauren Bacall in the 2012 drama movie “The Forger”, Dina was featured as the star and producer of the TV reality documentary series “Mrs. Eastwood & Company“, which provided a detailed insight in her private life, featuring her then-husband Clint Eastwood and their daughter Morgan. In November 2013 she spent two weeks serving as the weeknight anchor at the KSBW.
Additionally, she is the manager of the South African a cappella band Overtone, which she discovered in 2009 on the set of Eastwood’s two-time Oscar-nominated biographical drama movie “Invictus”.
Personal Life
Dina and Clint first met in 1992 during an interview, and not long after they began their relationship. After dating for almost four years, the couple tied the knot on his 66th birthday on the 31st March 1996, and later that year welcomed their daughter Morgan.
However, after publicly disclosing in April 2013 that they were living separately, due to anxiety and depression, Dina was forced to check in for a rehab. In October that year after nearly 18 years of marriage, she filed for divorce.
Since July 2016, Dina has been married to her high school sweetheart Scott Fisher, who is widely recognized as the former head coach of the Australian National Basketball League’s team the Perth Wildcats.
Clint Eastwood
Clinton ‘Clint’ Eastwood Jr. was born on the 31st March 1930 in San Francisco, California, the older child of Ruth Wood and Clinton Eastwood. He is of American nationality and white ethnicity, and has some English, Scottish, Irish and Dutch descent.
Clint began his acting career in 1955, with an uncredited appearance in the Sci-Fi horror movie “Revenge of the Creature”. After struggling through the rest of the 1950s, he came to prominence during the 1960s as Rowdy Yates in the popular western series “Rawhide”.
He then appeared in Sergio Leone’s iconic western movies “A Fistful of Dollars” (1964), “For a Few Dollars More” (1965) and “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” (1966). During the 1970s, he appeared in a vast number of critically acclaimed movies, including “Kelly’s Heroes” (1970), “Dirty Harry” (1971), “The Outlaw Josey Wales” (1976) and “Escape from Alcatraz” (1979) to name a few.
With his career on the rise, Eastwood starred in several Hollywood’s blockbuster movies such as “Sudden Impact” (1983), “Pale Rider” (1985) and “Heartbreak Ridge” (1986).
For his acting and directing efforts in the 1992 western drama film “Unforgiven”, he was honored with the Golden Globe Award as well with the Academy’s Oscar. He then starred in the Oscar-nominated drama film “In the Line of Fire” in 1993 after whppeich he aared in his own romantic drama movie “The Bridges of Madison County” in 1995. These achievements were followed by his critically praised movies “Space Cowboys” (2000), “Million Dollar Baby” (2004) and “Gran Torino” (2008). Among his most recent career’s credits is also the 2018 drama thriller “The Mule”.
