Who is Skyler Gisondo?
Skyler Gisondo was born in Palm Beach County, Florida USA, on 22 July 1996 – his zodiac sign is Leo and he holds American nationality. He is an actor, perhaps best known for his portrayal of Young Shawn in the comedy mystery crime series “Psych”, which aired from 2006 to 2014, and which starred James Roday, Dule Hill and Timothy Omundson. The series follows a man who, after pretending to be a psychic, is hired by the police and starts helping them solve the most complicated crimes with the help of his best friend – it won five awards and was nominated for 31 others.
Early life and education
Skyler was raised as an only child in Palm Beach County by his father Ron and mother Stacey, who were both oceanographic engineers. Most of his relatives are Jewish, and Skyler was a member of the Jewish organization United Synagogue Youth for several years, and once travelled to Israel with them.
As he began working at a rather early age, Skyler was homeschooled for two years, then went on to attend Milken Community High School located in Los Angeles, from which he matriculated in 2014.
He enrolled at the University of Southern California in 2015, at which he studied film but had to take a break due to his acting career; however, Skyler is still planning to obtain his college degree.
Roles in TV series
Skyler launched his acting career when he was only six years old, as his mother took pictures of him and sent them to various agencies, and Skyler was soon invited to appear in a commercial for Pizza Hut, which was followed by many other commercials.
He made his debut TV series appearance in 2003, when he portrayed Jeffrey in the episode “Forgive and Forget” of the romantic comedy series “Miss Match”, which starred Alicia Silverstone and Lake Bell and which is about an attorney working in Los Angeles who is also working as a matchmaker.
The series won Alicia a nomination for a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical. Two years later in 2005, Skyler was invited to guest star as Jackson Coleman in the episode “Christmas Is Ruined” of the comedy series “Huff”, which was very successful as it won five awards and was nominated for 12 others including a Golden Globe.
He went on to appear in a single episode of several TV series, such as the comedy “Everybody Loves Raymond”, another comedy “What I Like About You”, and the comedy crime series “Monk”, before he was invited to guest star as Ned Burton in the mystery crime series “Cold Case”, and as Tommy Nauls in the drama series “Strong Medicine”.
The year 2006 saw him portray the Boy in the episode “What Fresh Hell” of the critically acclaimed mystery crime series “Criminal Minds”, which was created by Jeff Davis and starred Matthew Gray Gubler and Kirsten Vangsness – it follows an FBI department specialized in figuring out what the next move of a serial killer will be – the series won 23 awards and was nominated for 35 others, including three Primetime Emmys.
Skyler subsequently appeared in several other TV series, such as the mystery series “House”, the romantic series “ER” in which he played Timmy Jankowski in two episodes, and the comedy series “Drake & Josh”. In 2007, he was invited to guest star as Danny Curtis in the mystery crime series “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”, which was a huge hit in the US as it won 67 awards and was nominated for 126 others, including six Golden Globes during the fifteen years of its airing (2000-2015).
His following roles in TV series came in 2008, when he appeared in the action science fiction series “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”, and the comedy series “My Name is Earl”, while he gained recognition after he began portraying the supporting character Bryan Pearson in the comedy series “The Big Engvall Show”, appearing in all 31 episodes. It was created by Bill Engvall, who also starred in it alongside Nancy Travis and Jennifer Lawrence, and which follows Bill Pearson who is a therapist and living with his wife and their children. In 2009, Skyler voiced Matty Moyer in two episodes of the animated comedy series “American Dad!”, and portrayed Gene Friesen in two episodes of the fantasy series “Eastwick”, while the year 2010 saw him appear in the episode “The Match” of the drama series “Hawthorne”.

Skyler started the 2010s by voicing several characters in the animated action comedy series “Phineas and Ferb”, and he then appeared as Dylan in the comedy series “House of Lies”, and Devin in the romantic adventure fantasy series “Once Upon a Time”, both shot in 2013. The year 2017 saw him guest star as Joshua in the episode “Lox of Love” of the comedy series “Ride Overshare”, but which was cancelled after airing nine episodes. His following two roles were in the comedy series “Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later”, and the comedy series “The Real Bros of Simi Valley”. One of his most notable performances was in the comedy horror series “Santa Clarita Diet”, in which he portrayed the supporting character Eric Bemis in all its 30 episodes – the series starred Drew Barrymore, Timothy Olyphant and Liv Hewson, and was about a man whose wife dies after they’ve been working together as real estate agents for years.
Two of Skyler’s most recent roles in TV series have been in the comedy “The Righteous Gemstones” in which he portrayed Gideon Gemstone in seven out of 10 episodes, and another comedy “Curb Your Enthusiasm”, in which he guest starred as Sam Winokur in the episode “The Ugly Section” in 2020.
Roles in movies
Skyler made his debut film appearance in 2003, when he portrayed Spielberg’s Son in the comedy film “Crazy Love”, which is about two people who decide to adopt a Chinese girl – the film passed by rather unnoticed.
Three years later in 2006, he appeared as Robert in the drama movie “Jam”, directed and written by Craig E. Serling, which starred Christopher Amitrano and Elizabeth Bogush and which won an Independent Spirit Award at Santa Fe Film Festival. In the same year, Skyler voiced B-Dawg in the comedy adventure film “Air Buddies”, about five puppies which, after their parents are ‘dognapped’, have to rescue them.
The year 2007 saw Skyler play the supporting character Tommy Doyle in the critically acclaimed horror movie “Halloween”, written and directed by Rob Zombie, and which won two awards and was nominated for two others. In the same year, Skyler appeared in the comedy musical “Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story”, and the comedy film “I’m in Hell” which follows a rich man who gets sent back to Earth after his death, but without his riches.
In 2008, Skyler was cast to voice B-Dawg once again in the adventure film “Snow Buddies”, also about dogs, and played Ben Whitman in the comedy fantasy film “For Heaven’s Sake”. and Connor in the romantic comedy movie “Four Christmases”. 2009 saw him voice B-Dawg for the third and fourth time in the fantasy adventure movies “Space Buddies” and “Santa Buddies”, before he was cast in 2011 to portray Donovan Weller in the short comedy film “Little in Common”, which failed to attract much attention.
In 2012, he appeared in the comedy film “The Three Stooges”, and another comedy – “Isabel” – before being cast to portray Howard Stacy in the critically acclaimed movie “The Amazing Spider-Man”, which starred Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, and follows Peter Parker who gains superpowers after being bitten by a spider – the film won two awards and was nominated for 11 others. Skyler went on to reprise his role in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” in 2014, and the same year also saw him portray supporting characters Roadcap in the comedy crime film “Buttwhistle”, and Nick Daley in the adventure comedy movie “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb”, which starred famous actors Ben Stiller and the late Robin Williams. He made a single appearance in 2015, when he played James Griswold in the adventure comedy movie “Vacation” but which received rather poor critiques, and in 2016, Skyler voiced Mort in the fantasy comedy film “Monkey Up”, and portrayed Hardy Buchanan in the comedy movie “Hard Sell”.
The year 2017 saw him appear as Bernard Fannigan in the romantic comedy film “Class Rank”, while the following year he played one of the lead characters, Evan in the romantic comedy “Time Freak”, written and directed by Andrew Bowler which also starred Asa Butterfield and Sophie Turner. Three of Skyler’s most recent roles in movies have been in the 2019 comedy “Booksmart” in which he portrayed Jared, the musical “The Cat and the Moon” in the same year in which he appeared as Seamus, and the comedy “Feast of the Seven Fishes” as Tony. He has recently been cast to appear in the comedy movie “The Binge”, and the drama film “The Starling”, both set to be released in the second half of 2020.
Love life and relationships
Skyler rarely talks about his girlfriend Ari Haagen, but he often uploads pictures of them together onto his Instagram account, and websites such as popsugar.com have described their relationship as one of the cutest.
They met in March 2018 when they were introduced by a mutual friend, and they started sharing pictures featuring both of them in July 2018. They have since travelled all around the US together, and have also been to Europe on several occasions, as they’ve captured the most amazing moments of their trips, and shared them with their fans. Ari can rarely be seen keeping Skyler company during his red carpet events.
There are rumors circulating the internet that Ari and Skyler might have become engaged in March 2020, but this hasn’t been confirmed by the two lovebirds. They are currently living together, haven’t been married, and don’t have any children.
Hobbies and other interests
Skyler’s favorite season is summer, as he is an avid swimmer and enjoys walking on the beach, and playing beach volleyball with his friends, and going snorkeling.

He is a lover of animals just as his girlfriend, and although they don’t have a pet of their own, they often take their friend’s Siberian Husky called Oscar for a walk. Skyler likes to dress up on Halloween, and the last year saw him become an Elf – he is hoping to one day dress up for his first cosplay event. He is keen on reading books in his spare time, and his favorite genre is comedy.
He has his own favorite actor and actress who are Russell Crowe and Emma Watson, while some of his favorite movies are “Gladiator”, “A Good Year” and the franchise “Harry Potter”. He is also a fan of TV series, and the two he enjoys watching the most are “Chernobyl” and “Prison Break”.
