Early life and education
Elena spent only the first few years of her life in Madrid before her family moved to New Orleans – she was raised alongside her siblings by their father who was a World War II veteran, and their mother who was a high school teacher.
At the age of 13, Elena’s best friend died in a house fire which made Elena somewhat of an introvert. She became interested in guns while attending high school, and upon matriculation started practicing shooting, specifically trap shooting.
The family moved to Los Angeles in California in 1992 after her father was offered a job there, and Elena continued practicing trap shooting as well as sporting clay pigeon shooting. She is today the 10th best female shooter in California in sporting clay and trap shooting.
Elena eventually became interested in acting, and when choosing between acting and attending college, Elena decided to focus on becoming an actress.
Roles in TV series
Elena made her debut TV series appearance in 1993, when cast to play Sonya in the episode “Pilot” of the romantic comedy series “Saved by the Bell: The College Years”, created by Elaine Aronson and Sam Bobrick, and which starred Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Tiffani Thiessen and Dustin Diamond – it follows a love story of two college students, Zach and Kelly.
Elena became famous in 1997 when she started portraying the lead character Lauren Fontaine in the comedy series “USA High”, which also starred Josh Holland and Thomas Magiar, and is about six people attending The American Academy of Paris. He was raised alongside his four siblings in Lake Charles by his mother Concetta and his father Curtis Cardone. Grant enjoyed going to school and was amongst the best students at LaGrange High School, from which he matriculated in 1976. He went on to enroll at McNeese State University in his hometown, and in 1981 graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. Nearly three decades later, in 2010 Grant was rewarded with the McNeese State University Distinguished Alumnus Award.
In was in 1987 that Grant moved to Chicago, after being offered work at a sales training company, and he went on to travel all around the US – from Chicago, he moved to Houston in Texas and then after a couple of years to La Jolla in California before settling in Los Angeles for over a decade, while he today lives in Miami, Florida.
