He might still be known best for his portrayal of Ricky in the 1991 crime drama film “Boyz n the Hood”, written and directed by John Singleton, and which starred Cuba Gooding Jr., Laurence Fishburne and Hudhail Al-Amir – it is about three teenagers living in Los Angeles’ Crenshaw ghetto as they go through relationships, violence and face racism. The film was a big success, winning 11 awards while it was nominated for 23 others, including two Oscars.
