He matriculated high school with a Seminole County record 53 touchdowns and 5,567 career passing yards. He played football at the University of Central Florida and in 2014, he was drafted in the 2014 NFL draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He is currently the Los Angeles Rams’ quarterback of their NFL team.

The University of Central Florida was the first university to offer him a scholarship, so he accepted, especially as the university was close to his home.

Other university offers included Western Kentucky, Purdue, Tulane and Colorado State. In 2010, he was redshirted as a true freshman. In 2011 – still as a redshirt – he played 10 games in which he completed 75 out of 110 passes for 958 yards with three interceptions and six touchdowns. In 2012 he was a sophomore, and played 14 games, all of which he started at quarterback; he completed 251 out of 399 passes for 3,059 yards with seven interceptions and 25 touchdowns, also scoring eight touchdowns and rushing 285 yards.

At 2012’s Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Bowl, he was the MVP because he completed 22 out of 32 passes for 271 yards with 79 rushing yards and three touchdowns against the Ball State Cardinals. In his class, he was listed as the number 44 pro-style quarterback, and Rivals.com named his a three-star recruit. While playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Blake experienced a lot of positives and negatives. In 2015, he set the team record for touchdowns and passing yards in a single season, and led the Jaguars to the AFC Conference Championship game which they’d last reached in 1999 when they lost to the New England Patriots.

In the 2016 season, he made the most pass attempts and most pass completions, but also had a lot of turnovers from interceptions thrown, actually from 2014 to 2018 a league-high of 75. After only a year into his contract extension of $54 million, he was released from the team. In 2019, he was signed by the Los Angeles Rams on a year-long contract as Jared Goff’s backup.

He holds the record for both the most consecutive games without a passing touchdown, and the most passing touchdowns in a game.
