Early life and education

Emilia was raised with an older brother in Oxfordshire by their father who was a theatre sound engineer, and her mother who is working at a global management consultancy company as vice-president of marketing. When she was three years old, her parents took her to see the play “Show Boat” which is when she decided she wanted to become an actress – she attended her first audition at the age of 10 for the musical “The Goodbye Girl”.

She studied at Rye St. Antony School before switching to St. Edward’s School, Oxford. Upon matriculation, she enrolled at Drama Centre London (after her applications were denied by the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA)) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in theater in 2009.

She made her debut film as the titular character in the short movie “Lisa’s Story” in 2009, and in 2012 was invited to play Malu in the short film entitled “Shackled”. She went on to appear in “Spike Island”, and in 2013 portrayed Evelyn Hemingway in “Dom Hemingway”.
