Early life and education
Dan was born into a family of blue-collar workers and spent his childhood in Boston. He is of British ancestry as his paternal grandfather moved to Boston from England. Dan was an exceptional student while attending elementary school, and showed an interest in the arts from a very early age. He discovered photography in his teens through the underground magazines of the punk-rock and skateboarding cultures of the ‘80s.
He attended School of the Museum of Fine Arts, and later became a Harvard University graduate. During his time at Harvard, Dan studied alternative photographic processes with Christopher James, graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in 1990. He continued his education at the University of Illinois, from which he obtained his Master of Fine Arts degree in 1993.
Career as an artist and other ventures
During his artistic career, Dan has explored intimate topics such as love, sex, and death. He has used 19th century photography techniques to make his work more raw and realistic.
He is also interested in painting, drawing, sculptures and production design. Dan received an Artist’s Fellowship Award from the National Endowment of Arts in 1994.
One of his earliest exhibitions – “Minimal” – was held at Gallery X in Los Angeles, California in 1993. A year later, he hosted his solo exhibition at I-Space Gallery in Chicago, Illinois, and in 1995 he was a part of two exhibitions: “A New Direction” at Warren Street Gallery in Hudson, New York, and “Dysfunctional” at Blue Note Gallery in London, England. He travelled to San Francisco, California to host an exhibition at Catharine Clark Gallery in 1996, and that year also hosted the solo exhibition “Interior Views” at Houston Center for Photography in Houston, Texas.
His work is currently displayed in Catherine Edelman Gallery in Chicago. In 1997, Dan Estabrook served as a production designer for Jesse Peretz’s directing venture, “First Love, Last Rites”. He was also associated with the art department of the 2018 musical drama “Juliet, Naked”.
He continued working and teaching in Boston, Illinois and Florida, and eventually in Brooklyn, New York City – a documentary about Dan and his work was produced in 2009 for Anthropy Arts’ Photographers Series. Dan is associated with “Planetkind Project” which focuses on raising awareness of environmental issues, and promoting a sustainable lifestyle.

She is an actress best known for her role as Elizabeth Keen, and FBI Agent and Profiler in the NBC drama series “The Blacklist”, and as a member of the main cast of the TV series “Law & Order: LA.”
Megan was raised in The Villages, Florida where her parents relocated to be closer to her grandparents. Her grandfather was the developer of The Villages, and her mother was the director of sales. Megan has stated how her interest in acting was sparked at the age of seven, when her parents took her to see a Broadway show. She started studying acting at high school, and went on to graduate from Florida State University‘s School of Theater in 2005 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. In late 2017, she began pursuing a degree in sustainability from Bard College.
