Madolyn Smith was born on 1 January 1957, in Albuquerque, New Mexico USA. Little to nothing is known about her childhood or early education, until she enrolled at the University of Southern California, in Los Angeles.

Career
Smith was 23 years old at the time of her first prominent role, in “Urban Cowboy”, a John Travolta drama western from 1980 in which she played Pam, a romantic interest of Travolta’s character, Bud. She subsequently co-starred in several films of that era, including “All of Me” from 1984 and “2010”, a sequel to “2001: A Space Odyssey” from the same year.
She appeared in several movies on television too, including “Rehearsal for Murder”, “Pray TV”, and “Deadly Intentions”. She also portrayed several real-life people, including Jehan Al Sadat, spouse of Anwar Al Sadat, former Egyptian president, in the miniseries “Sadat” from 1983, and Ernie Kovacs’ disturbed wife Dorothy, in the TV movie “Ernie Kovacs: Between the Laughter” that aired the following year. She made a brief appearance as The Girl in “The Caller” in 1987.
The role that Smith is best known for is Tracy Whitney, a star of the TV miniseries from 1986, “If Tomorrow Comes”, based on the novel of the same name written by Sidney Sheldon.
She also co-starred in movies such as “Funny Farm”, next to Chevy Chase, and “The Super” from 1991 playing opposite Joe Pesci, “The Plot to Kill Hitler”, the miniseries “The Kennedys of Massachusetts” portraying Joseph P. Kennedy’s paramour Gloria Swanson, and “The Rose and the Jackal”.
As for some of her later appearances, Smith guest-starred in an episode of the TV series “Cheers” entitled “What’s Up, Doc?” that first aired in 1989, and could be seen in multiple episodes of “Class of ‘96”, a TV drama series from 1993. Osborne retired from playing hockey professionally in 1998, and became a general manager of Toronto St. Michael’s Majors. As of March 2020, he works as a scout for organization the Los Angeles Kings. Couple welcomed their first daughter, Abigail in 1997, and their second daughter, Eliza, was born in 2000. Smith continued to act under her maiden name. She is credited as Madolyn Smith Osborne during her last TV appearance in “Due South”.
