Childhood and education

Alison was raised alongside her sister in Massachusetts by their father, who was a car mechanic and their mother who was a teacher. She fell in love with acting at the age of five, when she started watching movies and series on TV with her mother.

While she attended Newton North High School, she was a member of the school’s drama clu,b appearing in most of the school plays. She was also being interested in sports, running track and playing tennis and soccer (mostly for fun). Upon matriculation, Alison enrolled at Boston University, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in communications in 1976, then going on to Columbian University obtaining her Bachelor’s degree in social work in 1981.

Career as an actress

Alison moved to Los Angeles in California after graduation, where she worked several jobs to financially support herself, while working on her way up in the film industry.

She only gained recognition after guest starring in an episode of the comedy talk show “The Howard Stern Show” in 1987, which also starred Robin Quivers and Leslie West, following the lives of actors and musicians living in Los Angeles.

Alison went on to appear in the comedy sport film “US Open Sores” in 1989, which once again starred Howard Stern and Robin Quivers, plus Fred Norris, following Howard who faces film producer Gary Dell’Abate in a match played at the Nassau Coliseum in East Garden City, New York.

Alison met her now ex-husband Howard Stern while they were both attending Boston University in 1974, and they began dating shortly after. They were together for over four years, waiting until they both graduated to marry, on 4 June 1978 in a ceremony held in Brookline, Massachusetts at the Ohabei Shalom Temple. Alison gave birth to their first daughter Emily Stern (actress and casting director) on 7 May 1983, who was followed by Deborah Jennifer on 9 May 1986. Their third daughter Ashley Jade was born on 24 January 1993, but the two divorced in 2001, believed to be because Alison was not able to provide Howard with a son and heir (unlikely as it is the male who determines the gender).

Shortly after her divorce, Alison married her friend David Scott Simon (some of her fans believe that her divorce from Howard was caused by her cheating on Howard with David) on 23 November 2001 and they have been together to this day.

Howard was raised alongside his older sister Ellen, in Roosevelt, New York by their father Ben Stern who was serving in the US Army before becoming a radio engineer, and their mother Ray who was working as an office clerk before becoming an inhalation therapist.

Howard studied at Washington-Rose Elementary school , then at Roosevelt Junior-Senior High School, and while there became interested in playing the piano and dancing. He was a member of the band the Electric Comicbook, but they split after Howard moved again and began attending South Side High School. He enrolled into Boston University – where he allegedly became involved in the drug scene – but later obtained the best possible radio-telephone operator license from the Radio Engineering Institute of Electronics, located in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Howard was five when he became interested in radio, and his father put a microphone and other equipment in the basement of their house so that Howard could practice his radio skills. He gained recognition as a radio host while still attending college, and received numerous offers upon graduation, declining most of them to first work with WRNW. His first book “Private Parts” came out on 7 October 1993 – Simon & Schuster paid close to $1 million for the publishing rights. Thanks to radio and his book, Howard became immensely popular, and decided to run for Governor of New York in March 1994, promising to bring back the death penalty, however, after he had to reveal his income, he withdrew his candidacy.

He went on to write his second book “Miss America”, while the movie “Private Parts” based closely on his book was released on 27 February 1997.

Today, Howard is mostly known for his “The Howard Stern Show” which aired between 1990 and 1992 while he later went on to host the show “Howard Stern” from 1994 to 2005. He married Beth Ostrosky Stern, an actress and a model, in 2008 – they don’t have any children together.
