She worked alongside Amy Matthews, a well-known contractor who also works as a personal trainer on the side.
Rehab Addict
In 2010, Nicole’s expertise and business acumen led her to envision a show of her own. She worked with other experienced producers to help start the show “Rehab Addict”, which was picked up by both the DIY and the Home and Garden Television (HGTV) networks. With the creation of the show, they quickly separated themselves from the pack of renovators by exploring more about restoration and preservation. A lot of her work has been featured in publications in various parts of the country.
She has mainly worked in the Minnesota area, her home state of Michigan, and Ohio state.

In the show, she’s helped design 18th-century homes and farms.
She also made a guest appearance in the reality competition series “Beach Flip”, a show in which four teams battle it out to renovate beach homes which were built during the 1980s.
The team has eight weeks to renovate the home and hopefully increase its value – the winner of the show would win $50,000. However, the show didn’t gain a lot of popularity, and was canceled after its first season. Recently, she’s not been focused on any other projects though she has confirmed that she will return to HGTV to continue her show “Rehab Addict”. She’s also written an autobiographical book, detailing her journey so far.
Personal Life
Nicole has never been married though she has had two long-term relationships.
The first was with a man named Steve, whom she was with for over a decade. They have a son together but their relationship eventually soured and they broke up in 1996. Sometime in the 2000s, she began dating Shane Maguire and the two also have a child together. They stayed together until 2015abefore breaking-up, leading to a very long custody battle for their child. The two eventually reached multiple compromises to help achieve shared custody. As a part of the settlement, she has agreed to create a trust fund for their child, and also use some of her finances to help her former partner buy a home in California to have easier access to the child.
