Ben was raised as a single child in Kenilworth, Illinois, by his mother Patricia Blunt Koldyke who was working at the investment firm Laird Norton Company, and his father Martin J. Mike Koldyke, who was an investment banker, best known for having launched the Frontenac Company, which had invested over $1.5 billion in over 200 partnerships by 2017.

Ben attended New Trier High School where he was interested in football, and played for the school’s team having a 14-0 record, but they went on to lose in the State Championship.
