Early life and education
Aissa was raised in Burbank alongside her sister Marisa and brother Ethan, by John and their mother Pilar Wayne who was a famous actress best known for her role in the historical documentary series “Hollywood Greats” in 1987. Ethan is also an actor, known for roles in the movies “The Blues Brothers” and “Red State”. She has two half-brothers and two half-sisters.
Aissa became interested in acting at a very early age as her parents often took her on the sets of their movies and TV series. So while attending a local high school, Aissa was a member of the school’s drama club and appeared in plays performed there. She was also physically active as she played volleyball. Upon matriculation in 1974, she enrolled at college to obtain her Law degree.
Career as an actress
Aissa made her debut film appearance in 1960 when she portrayed Lisa Angelica Dickinson in the historical adventure drama movie “The Alamo”, which starred her father, Richard Widmark, and Laurence Harvey and which is about a handful of soldiers who are fighting against a huge Mexican army in 1836, to establish the new Republic of Texas.
The film was a success winning seven awards including an Oscar, while it was nominated for eight other awards.
In 1961, Aissa made an uncredited appearance as Bessie Marshall in the romantic action adventure movie “The Comancheros”, which once again starred her father, Stuart Whitman and Ina Balin, and is about a Texas Ranger who,after arresting a gambler, teams up with him so that they can find and arrest the gang they call The Comancheros. The film was another success winning two awards, and becoming nominated for three others.
The year 1963 saw Aissa make another uncredited appearance as a Native Girl in the romantic adventure comedy film “Donovan’s Reef”, which starred her father, Lee Marvin and Elizabeth Allen, and which is about American moral issues such as greed and belief of being superior to other people
.In 1963 as well, Aissa played the supporting character Alice Warren in the romantic comedy western film “McLintock!”, which starred her father, Maureen O’Hara and her brother Patrick, and which is about a rich rancher who uses his money to keep the peace between the corrupt government and the farmers; the movie won two Golden Laurel Awards in 1964. About 20 years later in 1984, Aissa appeared as herself in the series “Hollywood Greats”, which starred Barry Norman, Jonathan Ross, and Lauren Bacall and is about the most famous people in Hollywood.
Some of her final roles before retiring from acting were in the documentary film about her father entitled “John Wayne: On Board with the Duke” released in 1997, and the documentary series “California’s Gold” in 2008, which is about Huell Howser who is travelling around California in search of stories.
Aissa has been working as a lawyer in Los Angeles since she retired from acting, while she is also a writer, having published her book “John Wayne: My Father” on 1 April 1998.
Love life and relationships
Aissa met Earl Lawrence Kuhle II in the late ‘70s, and they dated for over two years before marrying in a small ceremony attended by their closest friends and family on 3 October 1981.

On 1 April 1982, Aissa gave birth to their daughter Jennifer Wayne, while their son Nicholas Kuhle followed on 24 October 1983. Aissa and Earl divorced in 1984 for unknown reasons.
In July 1985, Aissa met orthopedic surgeon Thomas A. Gionison a blind date, and after less than a year of dating, they married on 14 February 1986. They divorced on 2 July 1988, allegedly because Aissa wasn’t interested in working on their marriage, and taking care of their daughter Anastasia Pilar Gionis born on 14 February 1987. The court gave Thomas full custody over Anastasia as the judge stated Aissa was emotionally immature and was in no condition to raise a child on her own.
On 3 October 1988, three months after the divorce, Aissa and her new boyfriend were attacked by two masked men with baseball bats, and after beating them up, Aissa’s boyfriend stated that he might have been responsible because of a business deal he made – his statement was later removed from the record, and it was believed that the attackers were hired by Aissa’s ex-husband Thomas. He was arrested and jailed for 17 days without the possibility of being released on bail, however, his lawyer eventually helped him get out by posting $250,000.
On 16 March 2002 Aissa married Richard Putnam Robinson, but they apparently divorced after several years for unknown reasons.

Aissa likes to travel and has been around the US for both work and pleasure, while she has also been to Europe on many occasions, visiting countries such as Italy and England, while her dream travel destination is Paris in France. She is interested in politics, and in 2016 during the US presidential election, she voted for Donald Trump who is a Republican. Aissa is a lover of animals and has had several pet cats while her favorite animals are horses and turtles. Summer is her favorite season as she enjoys spending her free time at the beach tanning her skin and swimming in the ocean while she also likes to play beach volleyball.
