In 1980, Tom Selleck joined the cast of the CBS crime drama series “Magnum, P.I.”, in which he portrayed the lead role of private investigator Thomas Magnum, appearing in more than 160 episodes over eight seasons which lasted until 1988; it earned him not only a worldwide recognition, but also an Emmy Award. Side by side, Tom played Mac Traven in the made-for-TV western “The Shadow Riders” (1982) and appeared in the title role in the heist spy film “Lassiter” (1984). He also starred in the role of Peter Mitchell in the 1987 comedy “Three Men And A Baby”, which he would later reprise in its 1990 sequel, entitled “Three Men And A Little Lady”.
During the same year, Tom landed one of his best roles as Matthew Quigley in the western “Quigley Down Under”, directed by Simon Wincer.

With the beginning of the 2000s, Tom continued to work on television film titles, such as “Crossfire Trail” (2001), “Monte Walsh” (2003), and “Reversible Errors” (2004). He then played the title role in the “Jesse Stone” made-for-TV film series, for which he was also an executive producer and writer, and was based on the book series of the same title written by Robert B. Parker. The film series consists of nine installments – “Jesse Stone: Stone Cold”, was released in 2005, while the ninth installment, “Jesse Stone: Lost In Paradise”, was aired in 2015.
