He has a younger sister, Birgen, who was born three years after him. Sean had a tough childhood; her parents’ marriage started dissolving and ended in tragedy. Brynn, who had a history of alcohol and substance abuse, shot Phil in the head, chest, and throat after an argument, which left him dead on the site. After this, Brynn took a car to her friend Ron Douglas’ house and told him what she did. At first, he didn’t believe her, and drove back to Phil’s home. He called 911 upon arriving and the police took Phil’s children and Douglas away from the murder scene, while Brynn had locked herself in the bedroom and killed herself.

Following the demise of their parents, Sean and his sister lived with Brynn’s sister Katharine Omdahl and her husband Mike Wright. According to reports, Phil had settled that his children receive money every month until they turn 25 years old. His wealth at the time of death was around $1.25 million.

Philip Edward Hartman was born on the 24th September 1948, in Brantford, Ontario Canada, the son of Rupert Loebig Hartman and his wife Doris Marguerite. The fourth of eight children, he was raised a Catholic, and when he turned 10 years old, the family moved to the USA. They first found a home in Lewiston, Maine, then Meriden, Connecticut, but eventually moved to the West Coast.

He went to Westchester High School, and it was in there that he found a deep connection with comedy, acting like a class clown along the way. After matriculation, he enrolled at Santa Monica City College, but dropped out and became a roadie for a rock band. Nevertheless, three years later, he enrolled at California State University, Northridge, to study graphic art. Over time, he made his own graphic arts business, and during the ‘70s created more than 40 album covers for various bands, which included America and Poco, among others. Furthermore, he also created the logo for Crosby, Stills & Nash.

Career

His career in show business began in the mid-70s, when he joined the improv comedy group The Groundlings. As time passed by, he became more encouraged to feature on stage with the group, and eventually made his acting debut in the film “Stunt Rock” in 1978. He continued with minor roles in the ‘70s, while in the ‘80s his career started improving. Before his death in 1998, Phil had worked both as actor and voice actor on more than 90 films, TV shows and animated series.

Some of his most popular works included as voices of Henry Mitchell/George Wilson/Ruff in the animated series “Dennis the Menace”, then for his work on the “Saturday Night Live” in 1985 and ‘96, in which his best impersonation was as President Bill Clinton. Before his marriage to Brynn, Phil had already gone through two failed marriages.

His first was to Gretchen Lewis, which lasted only from 1970 until 1972. His second marriage was to Lisa Strain, a real estate agent – the two married in 1982, but this lasted only for the next three years before the couple divorced.

In 1986, he met his future third wife, Bryn Omdahl (Vicki Jo Omdahl), on a blind date; the two became a couple and married in November 1987. Unfortunately, their marriage ended tragically, with both of them dead. Brynn was having problems with alcohol and drugs and was also suffering from anxiety, which only contributed to the tragic event.
