The Net Worth of Sarath Ton
As of mid-2020, Sarath Ton’s net worth is estimated to be over $500,000, earned through a successful career within the wrestling industry. While he no longer performs as a wrestler, he gets consistent pay from his work in costume design. He probably benefits from the success of Sasha Banks too, who has a net worth estimated to be over $3 million.
Wrestling Beginnings
Sarath grew up in Massachusetts, and at a young age fell in love with the world of professional wrestling as popularized by names such as the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) and World Championship Wrestling (WCW).
As a teenager, he began training in learning how to wrestle under the tutelage of Kevin Landry, who’s known for his brief appearances within WWE, winning the Hardcore title on one occasion.
After training for a few years, he made his debut in 2002 as a part of the Premier Wrestling Federation Northeast (PWF), which was based in Rhode Island, and operated during the 2000s up to 2013. He took on the wrestling name Kid Mikaze, and during his first year won his first title alongside Mike Paiva, when they fought for the PWF Northeast Tag Team Championship during the event, PWF Northeast Vindication. Following his work and win there, he appeared in various other promotions within the northeast part of the US.
Path to WWE
As the years passed, Ton made appearances for other promotions too, such as Top Rope Promotions, Connecticut Wrestling Entertainment, and New England Frontier Wrestling. He also regularly appeared on the roster of Chaotic Wrestling, where he would win the CW Tag Team Championship, later winning both the CW New England Championship and the CW Heavyweight Championship. He continued wrestling for PWF as well, and after losing the tag team titles, he successfully fought for it again. He also later won the PWF Mayhem Junior Heavyweight Championship.
In 2012, he fulfilled a dream as he signed to become a part of the roster of WWE, leading him to debut under the ring name Rutherford Hayes. He made his debut on the program “Monday Night Raw” partnered with Willard Filmore, but both were easily defeated by Ryback who was set for a big push within the company at the time. Sarath appeared sporadically as an enhancement talent. then in 2015 he moved to WWE’s developmental brand NXT, and began teaming with Jason Jordan. His first match was an untelevised dark match in which he and Jordan fought against The Vaudevillains.
He was set to become a part of the NXT tag team division, but a serious injury left him unable to return to competition. He was then hired by WWE as a costume designer under the name Mikaze, and he’s been with the company since then.
Wife – Sasha Banks
Born as Mercedes Justine Kaester-Varnado, Sasha’s family moved around during her youth as her brother was disabled and had to undergo treatments in various locations in the US. They eventually settled in Boston, Massachusetts, where she developed an interest in professional wrestling. She was homeschooled, and during this time she grew up watching All-Japan Women’s Pro Wrestling (AJW) and WWF.
In 2008, she joined Chaotic Wrestling as one of its trainee wrestlers leading to her debut two years later under the name Mercedes KV. She competed for two years with the promotion, in tag teams and intergender tag team matches. She competed for the championship a few times until getting an opportunity against Alexxis, winning the title for the first time. While working with Chaotic she also appeared in other promotions such as New England Championship Wrestling (NECW) and (National Wrestling Alliance). She continued defending her Chaotic Wrestling Women’s title numerous times, until she signed a contract with WWE in 2012, leaving the title vacant.
The Success of Sasha Banks
She joined the developmental brand NXT where she took on the ring name Sasha Banks, and became a part of what would be called the four horsewomen of wrestling, an allusion to a similar title within the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) world. She was one of the first women to help legitimize technical wrestling in women’s matches in WWE. Her match with Bayley at NXT TakeOver: Respect was the first to headline an NXT Takeover. She was also a part of the first Iron Woman match in the history of WWE.
In 2016, sometime after her move to the main roster, she and Charlotte Flair became the first women to headline a pay-per-view event of WWE, in a Hell in a Cell match.
During her time in WWE, she was a former NXT Women’s Champion and a four-time Raw Women’s Champion, sharing the record with Flair. She also won the inaugural WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship alongside Bayley, during 2019’s Elimination Chamber.
Personal Life
Sarath first met Sasha during his time in Chaotic Wrestling, and the two became close friends, eventually dating while both were employed in WWE. The two married in 2016 – they don’t have children, as that would mean Banks taking time off from her wrestling career. With their marriage, Sarath became related by law to Snoop Dogg, Daz Dillinger, Brandy Norwood, and Ray J, all of whom are cousins of Banks.
