Chaley was raised alongside her brother Charles E. Jackson in Columbus, by their father Charles ‘Chuck’ Jackson who was an artist, and their mother Cheryl Owsley Jackson who was a reporter – Chaley’s parents divorced after having been together for over 20 years.

She studied at Central Middle School at which she was physically very active, as she ran track for the school’s team while she was also a gymnast and a cheerleader.
