Who is Christian Nodal?

Mexican singer-songwriter Christian Jesus Gonzalez Nodal was born in Sonora, Mexico on 11 January 1999, making Capricorn his zodiac sign. He’s perhaps known best for his debut album “Me Deje Llevar”, which was released in 2017 and won several awards; since the launch of his career, Christian’s won a Latin American Music Award, two Billboard Latin Music Awards, a Lo Nuestro Award and three Latin Grammies.

Education and early life

Christian was raised in Caborca, Sonora alongside his siblings Jaime Alonso Gonzalez Nodal and Amely Gonzalez Nodal, by their mother Silvia Cristina Nodal and father Jaime Gonzalez; not many details have been shared about Christian’s family because he respects their privacy, but he’s revealed that many of his cousins are musicians.

He was only four when he became passionate about singing, and during his early teenage years self-taught himself to play the guitar and piano; Christian studied at a local high school in Sonora, and was passionate about sports during his time there, excelling in soccer.

He matriculated in 2017, and then chose to pursue a music career over a college degree.

Career as a singer

Amongst Christian’s first songs was his single “Adios Amor”, which was released in January 2017 and became a hit in both the USA and Mexico, peaking at #2 on the Billboard Top Latin Songs chart and topping the Top 20 General Mexican Songs Chart. In June of the same year, Christian and Spanish singer David Bisbal collaborated on their song “Probablemente”.

Christian’s debut album “Me Deje Llevar” was released on 25 August 2017 and topped charts in both the USA and Mexico, while his song “Probablemente” won a Latin Grammy for Best Regional Mexican Song; he was also nominated for a Latin Grammy for Best New Artist and Best Ranchero Album. “Me Deje Llevar” was certified platinum thrice by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

He spent most of the year 2018 touring with American singer Jose Antonio Aguilar Jimenez and his family, and on 10 May 2019, Christian released his second album “Ahora”; it reached top 10 on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart, and Christian toured around the US in support of the album; it was also certified platinum by RIAA.

His third and most recent album “Ayayay!”, was released on 29 May 2020 under Universal Music Latin Entertainment and Fonovisa, as his previous two, and was certified Gold by RIAA; the album charted #8 on the Billboard Hot Latin chart.

Christian and Los Plebes del Rancho de Ariel Camacho released their collaborative album “Recordando A Una Leyenda” on 21 May 2021, under JG Music and Universal Music Latin Entertainment.

He’s also released two extended plays (EPs); Christian’s debut EP “Lo Mas Nuevo” came out on 28 May 2018, and was followed by “Forajido” on 27 May 2022; the latter was certified platinum by RIAA.

Christian’s recently revealed that he and Argentinian singer-songwriter Tini were working on their song “Por el Resto de Tu Vida”, set to be released in the summer of 2023.

YouTube channel

Christian launched his self-titled YouTube channel on 16 March 2017, and there are today close to 11 million people subscribed to it, making him one of the most popular Mexican singers on YouTube. He’s uploaded only 14 videos onto the channel, but all of these combined have been viewed more than eight billion times; Christian only uploads his original music videos, and we’re about to cover three of the most popular amongst these, which’ve contributed to his internet popularity.

Christian’s #1 video “Christian Nodal – Adiós Amor (Video Oficial)” has been watched over 1.3 billion times since 13 January 2017, and it’s his sad love song about him having to break up with his girlfriend because they were no longer happy together.

His #2 video “Christian Nodal – No Te Contaron Mal (Video Oficial)” was uploaded on 7 September 2018, and has since been watched close to 800 million times; it’s a song about him cheating on his girlfriend.

Christian’s third most popular video “Christian Nodal – De Los Besos Que Te Di (Video Oficial)” has been watched over 700 million times since 15 April 2019, and it’s a song dedicated to his former love.

Love life and relationships

Christian rarely speaks about his love life in public, but there are four girls whom he’s dated, that his fans know about. In May 2021, he announced that he and Spanish-Mexican singer-songwriter and actress Belinda Peregrin Schull had become engaged; she’s perhaps still known best for having starred in the children’s telenovela “Amigos x Siempre” when she was only 10 years old. Then Christian and Belinda broke up in February 2022.

Christian had previously dated three women in the second half of the 2010s: Mexican-American singer Angela Aguilar, Mexican World Music Singer Estibaliz Badiola, and Mexican model Maria Fernanda Guzman.

Christian seems to be single as of May 2023, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.

Interesting facts and hobbies

Christian’s an Instagram star, as more than 9.4 million people are following him on the network today; he’s posted only 39 pictures and videos, most of these having been taken during his everyday life, while others serve to promote his music.

He’s passionate about travelling, and has performed in a number of US states; Christian’s also travelled to Europe and Australia, and his dream travel destination’s Tokyo, Japan.

He’s a lover of animals, and during his teenage years volunteered at a local animal shelter; his favorites are lions and tigers.

Christian works out at the gym on a daily basis, thus his muscular body.

He’s a huge fan of Hollywood; Christian’s favorite actor is Dwayne Johnson, while some of his favorite movies include “Black Adam”, “Jumanji” and the franchise “Fast and Furious”.

Christian’s age is 24. He has brown eyes and black hair, and most of his body is covered in tattoos; he’s 5ft 7ins (1.7m) tall and weighs around 135lbs (62kgs).
