Sian Brooke Biography

Sian Brooke (born in 1980 in Lichfield, Staffordshire, England) as Sian Phillips. She is an actress, known for Sherlock (2010), Meadowlands (2007) and Hamlet (2015). Sian Brooke is a British actress known for portraying Laura in ‘all about George’, Lori in Cape Wrath, and Eurus Holmes in Sherlock. Her height is 5 feet, 6 inches.

Sian Brooke Early Life

Sian Elizabeth Phillips was born in England, and she is the youngest of three siblings. She adopted a stage name to remove confusion with fellow actress Sian Phillips, choosing Brooke after an English Civil War general who did his services at Lichfield. Sian is the daughter of the police officer and teacher. Her early education was at The Friary School in Litchfield. In the start, she joined Lichfield Youth Theatre at the age of 11 years before becoming the member of the National Youth Theatre and subsequently training at Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), from where she received her degree of graduation in 2002.

Her acting debut was as Krista in television series Dinotopia in 2002. Her television credits include “ a touch of frost, hotel Babylon, Foyle’s war and the fixer.” As a child, Sian featured in Strangers in Utah with Adrian Dunbar & Phyllida Law. She also played a lead role of Laura in  the all about George’ and Lori Marcuse in ‘Cap Wrath.’

Brooke has provided her enchanting voice to the radio dramas ‘ murder on the homefront’ ‘ a pin to see Peepshow’ and ‘dreaming in Africa.’

Theatre work of Brooke includes “Harvest, Dying City, Dido Queen of Carthage, In the Club, The birthday party and Perhaps.” She has also taken part in the productions of Poor Beck, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, King Lear, and Romeo and Juliet, with the Royal Shakespeare Company. From July to August 2008, Brooke played Dorothy Gale in the musical The Wizard of Oz at the Southbank Centre. The production directed by Jude Kelly. During 2011, at the Almeida Theatre London, she emerged in Stephen Poliakoff’s My city and Neil LaBute’s Reasons to be Pretty.

From August to Oct 2015, Brooke played Ophelia alongside Benedict Cumberbatch in the Barbican’s productions of Hamlet.

2007

In the year of 2017, Brooke starred in the 4th season of television crime drama Sherlock as Sherlock Holmes’ secret sister Eurus. She gave audition for multiple characters in the show before the showrunners told Brooke that all the characters were one, Eurus, who would be a master of disguise. Writing of Michael Hogan for The Daily Telegraph in his review of the third episode of the season left a comment that the role was “a star-making turn from Sian Brooke.” Later in that year, Sian appeared with Sheridan Smith and Gemma Whelan in the BBC miniseries The Moor side based on the Kidnapping of Shannon Matthews.
