Who is Adrianne Palicki?

American actress Adrianne Lee Palicki was born in Toledo, Ohio USA, on 6 May 1983, making Taurus her zodiac sign. She’s had roles in nearly 50 TV series and movies, and is perhaps known best for playing Jaye, one of the main characters in the 2013 science fiction action adventure movie “G I. Joe: Retaliation”, which Jon M. Chu directed, and which also starred Channing Tatum and Dwayne Johnson. It follows the G. I. Joes as they’re searching for moles in their organization, and the movie won one of the 13 awards for which it was nominated.

Education and early life

Adrianne was raised alongside her brother Eric in Toledo, by their mother Nancy Lee Palicki (nee French) and father Jeffrey Arthur; Eric’s today a comic book author, but not a lot has been disclosed about their parents, because they prefer to stay away from media.

Adrianne studied at Whitmer High School in Toledo, and was around 15 years old when she became interested in acting, after appearing in a school play; she was also into music and playing volleyball while growing up, but eventually chose acting over everything else.

Adrianne matriculated in 2001 and then moved to Los Angeles, California in pursuit of an acting career.

Roles in movies

Adrianne made her debut film appearance in the 2003 short mystery thriller “Getting Rachel Back”, and the same year saw her appear in the short comedy “Rewrite”.

In 2004, she portrayed Judy Robinson in the science fiction adventure “The Robinsons: Lost in Space”, and in 2005 played Whitney in the romantic family comedy “Popstar”, directed by Richard Gabai, and which starred Aaron Carter, Alana Austin and David Cassidy. It follows a teenage girl who’s just learned that her best friend’s a pop star. Some of Adrianne’s other film roles in the decade were in the action horror thriller “Seven Mummies” and the action adventure “Aquaman” both in 2006, and the 2009 comedy “Women in Trouble”.

In 2010, she portrayed Charlie in the critically acclaimed action fantasy horror “Legion”, which Scott Stewart wrote and directed, and which starred Paul Bettany, Dennis Quaid and Charles S. Dutton. It follows Archangel Michael as he’s protecting a pregnant waitress from demonic forces. Some of Adrianne’s following roles were in the 2011 action fantasy adventure “Wonder Woman”, the 2012 action “Red Dawn”, and the 2013 comedy “Coffee Town”.

She played Ms Perkins in the hit 2014 action crime thriller “John Wick”, which starred Alfie Allen, Michael Nyqvist and Keanu Reeves, and was directed by David Leitch and Chad Stahelski. It follows a former hitman as he’s tracking down those who killed his dog – the movie won five of its 15 award nominations.

Some of Adrianne’s most recent film roles have been in the 2021 drama “With/In: Volume 2”, the 2022 short drama “Thoughts and Prayers”, and the 2023 comedy “Quasi”.

Roles in TV series

Adrianne’s debut TV series role was playing Lindsay Harrison in the 2004 episode “Covenant” of the action adventure “Smallville”, and the same year saw her appear in an episode of the comedy “Quintuplets”, and the crime mystery “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”.

From 2006 through 2011, Adrianne played Tyra Collette in 52 episodes of the sports drama “Friday Night Lights”, created by Peter Berg, and which starred Kyle Chandler, Connie Britton and Zach Gilford. It follows the lives of members of the nation’s best high school football team the Dillon Panthers, and the series won 18 of its 121 award nominations.

In 2014, Adrianne appeared in an episode of both the crime action fantasy “From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series” and the historical comedy “Drunk History”, and from 2014 through 2016, she portrayed Bobbi Morse in the popular action adventure “Agents of S. H. I. E. L. D.”, which Maurissa Tancharoen and Jed Whedon created, and which starred Brett Dalton, Ming-Na Wen and Clark Gregg. It follows the lives of members of the S. H. I. E. L. D. organization, and the series won six of its 54 award nominations.

Since 2017, Adrianne’s been starring as Commander Kelly Grayson in the critically acclaimed adventure comedy “The Orville”, which Seth MacFarlane created, and is also starring in; the series follows the crew of spaceship USS Orville as they’re exploring the universe, and it’s won three of its 19 award nominations.

Other credits

Adrianne sang the song “Any Way You Want It” in the 2017 episode “Cupid’s Dagger” of the series “The Orville”.

Some of her most recent talk-show appearances have been in “The Man Cave Chronicles Podcast”, “The Roles That Changed My Life”, and “Talking the Orville”.

Awards and nominations

Adrianne and her colleagues won a 2009 Gold Derby Award for Ensemble of the Year, for their performance in “Friday Night Lights”, while they had been nominated for the same award two years earlier.

Adrianne was also nominated for a 2013 Teen Choice Award for Choice Movie Actress: Action, for her performance in “G. I. Joe: Retaliation”, and two Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films Saturn Awards for Best Actress in a Television Series in 2018 and 2019, both for “The Orville”.

Love life and marriage

Adrianne can rarely be heard speaking about her love life in public, but there are still two men whom she’s been with, that we know about. It was revealed in September 2014 that she and American stuntman Jackson Spidell had become engaged; the two met on the set of the movie “John Wick”, but split before taking the next step.

Adrianne began dating American actor and singer Scott Christopher Grimes in 2018, after having met him on the set of the series “The Orville”. The two announced in January 2019 that they had become engaged – they exchanged vows on 19 May 2019, but Adrianne filed for divorce on 22 July 2019; the judge granted her request to dismiss the filing in November, but Adrianne filed for divorce again on 16 July 2020.

She seems to be unattached as of April 2023, was once married to Scott Christopher Grimes, and doesn’t have children.

Interesting facts and hobbies

Adrianne was born with celiac disease, which is an autoimmune disorder that makes her intolerant to gluten.

She helped her brother write the first issue of his comic book “No Angel”, co-written by Jim Campbell, Jean-Paul Csuka and Ari Syahrazad.

The magazine “Maxim” ranked Adrianne #79 on their 2007 list ‘Hot 100’.

She’s a fan of tattoos, and has her parents’ names tattooed on her arm.

After moving to Los Angeles and before making a name for herself in the film industry, Adrianne worked as a sandwich maker at Togo’s.
