Alexander Jerome ‘Alex’ Gould is an American actor and voice artist who is perhaps best known for his voice-over work as Nemo in the first hit film of the series “Finding Nemo”, but will also be recognized from roles in “How To Eat Fried Worms” and the Showtime series “Weeds”. Due to changes in his voice, Alexander was not recast as Nemo in the latest “Finding Dory”, but instead as the character Carl. He has won multiple awards and is a talented young man with a bright future. Here is a quick look at the mysteries that surround the life of Alexander.
Early life and family
Alexander was born in Los Angeles, California, USA, on 4th May 1994 to parents Tom and Valerie Gould. He has two younger sisters, Kelly and Emma, both of whom are actresses themselves.
Alexander was raised in a Jewish family and continues to practice Judaism to this day, being a member of the United Synagogue Youth (USY) group. He made his initial debut in film at the age of two in 1996, starring in both the film “City of Angels” as a little boy and the TV series “Bailey Kipper’s P.O.V.” as the younger version of Kipper in the episode “Teacher, Teacher”.
Alex was raised in Los Angeles, where he was home-schooled, and in his final year of high school was elected as the president of the USY group of his locality.
Educational background
His schooling career was mostly done from home, and after matriculation, Alex took a gap year to travel to Israel as part of the Nativ program. During his visit – specifically to the Negev desert – Alex spent 10 months teaching young Israelis to speak and write correct English.
On his return to the US, Alexander enrolled into Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts, but later relocated to Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts where he completed his studies in philosophy in 2017.
Career
Despite making his debut in 1996, Alexander’s career truly started at the age of six in the year 2000, when he was cast as Peter Cobb in the film “Mexico City”, and Ronnie in an episode of the series “Freaks and Geeks”. He also appeared in the “Geena Davis Show” as Sam in the episode entitled “Cooties”, as well as in “Malcolm In The Middle” as Egg.
In 2002, he gained his next role in a major film entitled “They”, but also continued to appear in several TV series, including “Ally McBeal”, “7th Heaven” and “Family Law”.
The next year he landed the voice-over role of Nemo in “Finding Nemo”, for which he won a Young Artist Award for Outstanding Performance in a Voice-Over Role – Young Actor, and reprised the character in “Exploring the Reef With Jean-Michel Cousteau” in the same year.
In 2006 at the age of twelve, Alexander landed the role of Twitch in the kids’ film “How To Eat Fried Worms”, and did voice-over roles for the films “Curious George” and “Bambi 2”.
By this time he was already cast in the show “Weeds”, playing as Shane Botwin for a total of 102 episodes, to date his biggest role, for which he won an award for Best Supporting Young Actor, again from Young Artist Awards in 2007, and could also be seen in a few other shows that included “Even Stevens” and “Boom Town”.
His later work includes appearances in “Criminal Minds”, “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit”, “Pushing Daisies” and “Supernatural”, and in 2010, he had another voice-over role in “The Life and Times of Tim”.
Hobbies, favourite things and interesting facts
Alex is a fan of the sitcom “Two and a Half Men”, and also liked the “Dark Knight Trilogy”, as well as “The Daily Show”.
However, as is apparent on his Facebook profile, he is more fond of reading than watching films, and seems as though he really enjoyed keeping up with J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series, and also read the novel series “Eragon”.
Relationships
Alexander has been in a relationship with a girl by the name Lieba, and is most certainly of heterosexual orientation. The two most likely met while attending the same University, since both their Facebook accounts have this in common, but no other facts have been made public about their affair. According to Alexander’s Facebook details, the two have been married since 24 June 2018. No children or pregnancies have been announced as of mid-2020.
