Early life and education

Maureen was raised in Scottsdale by her father who was a businessman and her mother who was teaching at a local high school. She attended a local high school where she was physically active playing soccer and running track, and grew up wanting to become an actress, so also tried appearing in school plays but was never really good.

Upon matriculation, she enrolled at Villanova University graduating with a bachelor’s degree in 1982, then entered the Columbia Journalism School. While she was still attending college, she started thinking about modelling, sending her pictures to several agencies before being invited for her first photoshoot.

Career as an actress and a model

Maureen worked as a model for a year before she started posing for famous brands and companies such as Noblerex K-1, which is a company selling exercise machines, and she soon became the face of the company.

Upon marrying, she became more focused on her family, and started doing charity work, while she has been volunteering for several non-profit organizations, such as with Fresh Start Women’s Foundation, which is focused on helping women get educated, find support, and jobs. The two chatted and exchanged phone numbers, and then started dating around a month later. They married at a church in 1989 with only their closest friends and family attending – their marriage was criticized by many people as interracial marriage was considered as something wrong at the time.

Several months after they married Maureen gave birth to their daughter Christiana Barkley, and the two have decided not to have another child, however, as they didn’t want their child to grow up alone, they adopted a dog which died in 1999. He is a former professional basketball player currently working for TNT in their show “Inside the NBA” as their analyst.

He was raised in Leeds by his mother, after his father left the family when Charles was a year old – his mother went on to remarry and give birth to two half-brothers named John Glenn and Daryl Glenn, however, when Charles was 11, his stepfather died in a car crash. Charles studied at Leeds High School and as he was amongst the tallest kids in school, he began playing basketball. He was soon noticed by a scout from Auburn University which he went on to attend, studying business management but he quit one year before graduation, and in 1984 started playing for the Philadelphia 76ers in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

He helped the team reach the play-offs but they lost to Milwaukee Bucks, but for his great performance, Charles was named in the All-NBA Second Team. He became the leader of his team in the 1986-87 season, ultimately staying with the 76ers until the summer of 1992, when he was traded to the Phoenix Suns.
