  • He started playing football for the youth team of Stadlau in 1998 and played until 2005. 
  • In 2005, he joined the youth team of Rapid Wien and played until 2007. 
  • In 2007, he then joined the youth team of Aston Villa and began his career at the club. He represented the club during the 2009 Peace Cup against Juventus, Atlante, and Porto. During his 2009-10, he finished the season as Reserve South League’s top scorer with nine goals. 
  • Following an impressive stint in the reserves, he signed a contract extension which tied him to the club until June 2012.   • He then returned to Aston Villa and made his first appearance of the 2011-12 season on 23 August 2011 in the second round of the League Cup in a 2-0 home win against Hereford United. On 26 August 2011, he signed a new contract with the club until 2014. But just hours after renewing his Aston Villa contract, he returned to Watford in a second loan deal until January 2012 where he made three Championship appearances for Watford against Birmingham City, Reading, and Barnsley throughout August and September.

  • On 18 June 2015, he joined Derby County on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee. He made his debut for the club on 8 August 2015 in a 0-0 draw against Bolton Wanderers.
