Biggest Roulette Wins In History

When it comes to discussing the biggest casino wins of all time, it’s often money that has been won on slot machines or at the poker table that gets a mention. However, over the years, some excellent prizes have been picked up from roulette, with some remarkable wins on record.

Pedro Grendene Bartelle – $3.5 Million

In 2017, Pedro Grendene Bartelle stepped up to claim what many suggest is the biggest haul of all time from a roulette table. He put a wager down on a single number worth $35,000 and pocketed a whopping $3.5 million when his bet came in. Now, you may wonder where he got the money to afford a stake like that. Well, Bartelle owns the third largest footwear company in the whole of Latin America, and his uncle an even bigger one. So, he could afford to risk a big bet on number 32.

Sir Philip Green – £2 Million

In London, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to roulette. Playing the online roulette tables may not be the real thing, but it’s close enough, especially when looking at the live online versions. But, for Sir Philip Green, a fashion magnate, he chose to visit Les Ambassadeurs in 2004, and through a combination of even-money and straight bets, the retail tycoon walked away over £2 million up. And, the story doesn’t end there, as it’s reported that further visits to the venue in the same year made him another million pounds worth of profit.

Mike Ashley – £820,000

If you live in the UK, you will know who Mike Ashley is. The Londoner is a self-made billionaire entrepreneur who has rescued multiple companies at the eleventh hour and got them back, turning a profit. He’s also renowned for being the man behind Sports Direct and was, up until recently, the owner of Newcastle United. But, what Ashley is also famed for is having a good time. And at a private Mayfair casino, he staked £480,000 on all inside bets, which is known as a complete bet, winning £820,000. 17 was the number he had his eye on, and up trumps for him.

Joseph Jagger – $375,000

For the final entry on our list, we’re going way back in time to 1873, when Joseph Jagger pocketed a massive $375,000, which was a lot of money back in those days. The reason for Jagger’s inclusion is not just that he won a load of cash but that he spotted that the roulette wheel was biased towards specific numbers. 7, 8, 9, 17, 18, 19, 22, 28 and 29 were landing much more often than other numbers, so, over the next few days, Jagger paid repeated visits to the Monte Carlo casino and pocketed over $375,000 for his troubles. Of course, you won’t be able to find biased machines nowadays or get away with any form of exploiting and cheating.
