Early life and education
Burgess was raised an only child on the Gold Coast, by his father who is a fisherman and his mother who is the owner of her own small grocery store.
Burgess grew up watching movies and TV series, and after expressing his desire in becoming an actor, his mother enrolled him at a school for the performing arts at which he practiced his acting skills. He made his debut TV series appearance in 2000 even before enrolling at high school, when he guest starred as Young Dar in the episode “Valhalla” of the action adventure fantasy series “BreastMaster”.
He attended a local high school at which he was physically active, playing a variety of sports, and upon matriculation in 2005, Burgess decided to focus on his career as an actor rather than to enroll at a college.
Acting career
After he made his debut appearance, Burgess worked several jobs for the following seven years, before he won an audition and got to portray Sean Evans in three episodes of the romantic series “Home and Away” in 2007, which is one of the longest series ever to be filmed as it has been airing since 1988 and today counts around 7400 episodes.
In 2008, Burgess guest starred in a single episode of the family series “Blue Water High”, and also portrayed Tom Bishop in the episode “Echoes” of the critically acclaimed drama series “All Saints”. He made his debut film appearance in 2009 when he appeared as the Young Man in the short movie “Grace”, and he then starred as Zane in the family fantasy series “H2O: Just Add Water” – this role made him popular, and he appeared in 53 episodes out of 78. The series starred Cariba Heine, Phoebe Tonkin and Angus McLaren, and followed three girls who become mermaids.
In 2010, Burgess portrayed Ollie in a single episode of the family musical series “Dance Academy”, and a year later guest starred as Brent Smith in the crime series “Crownies”. In 2013, he starred in the short movie “Mirrors”, and two years later played the lead character Rainal Parks in another short movie “Freds Bread”.
The year 2015 saw Burgess appear as Neal Peters in two episodes of the mini-series “Peter Allen: Not the Boy Next Door”, and in 2017 he guest starred in an episode of the mini-series “Hoges”, portrayed Jamie in the short movie “In the Middle”, and also played the Traffic Investigating Sergeant in the drama movie “Australia Day”.
Two of Burgess’ most recent appearances have been in the romantic biographical film “Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance” and the episode “And He Shall Be a Good Man” of the TV series “iZombie”, both in 2018.
Love life and partner
Burgess has been keeping details of his love life away from the media’s attention, but it’s known that the actress Cariba Heine with whom he starred in the short movie “Quietus” was once his partner. They met on the set, and date for around a year before splitting for unknown reasons.
Cariba is today perhaps best known for her roles in the series “H2O: Just Add Water”, the drama series “Blue Water High”, and the movie “A Model Daughter: The Killing of Carolina Byrne” – before meeting Burgess, she was in a relationship with Jamie Timony.
Burgess hasn’t talked about any other girls he might have dated, but is today believed to be in a relationship as he’s been spotted with a mysterious girl on multiple occasions.
As he hasn’t commented on his relationship status, he is presumed single as of August 2020, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.
Hobbies and interests
Burgess’ main hobby is travelling and he has been all around Australia and to the US on multiple occasions for both work and pleasure. He has visited several European countries, including Switzerland and Norway, and has also travelled to Asia and Africa.
Burgess is a lover of animals and has a pet dog which can be seen featured in some of the pictures he has uploaded onto his Instagram account.
He is physically active as he has several training sessions at the gym each week. and Burgess is also following a strict diet, meaning he doesn’t eat fast food or sugar, but mostly fruits and vegetables – he also meditates and does yoga.
