Carrie Fisher was an American actress, writer, and comedian, who was well known for her role as Princess Leia Organa in the Star Wars films(1977 till 1983) for which she got much popularity and fame worldwide. Having her career started with her debut film, “Shampoo” in 1974, Fisher came a long way becoming one of the prominent actresses in Hollywood of her time. 

Fisher was born in a celebrity family as the daughter of popular singer Eddie Fisher and actress Debbie Reynolds. She also had written several semi-autobiographical novels including the bestselling novel, “Postcards from the Edge”. She however died of a sudden cardiac arrest on December 27, 2016, at age 60, four days after she had a medical emergency during a transatlantic flight from London to Los Angeles. 

She was posthumously made a Disney Legend in 2017 and was also awarded a posthumous Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album in 2018.

Carrie Fisher was born on October 21, 1956, in Burbank, California, United States. Her birth name is Carrie Frances Fisher. Her nationality is American. Fiser belongs to White ethnicity while Libra is her zodiac sign. 

Fisher was born in a well-to-do family as the daughter of Russian immigrant father Eddie Fisher and Scottish-Irish-English mother Debbie Reynolds. Carrie Fisher was married to Paul Simon, a musician whom she met while filming Star Wars and dated from 1977 until 1983 for over 6 years. IN between she was briefly engaged to Canadian actor and comedian, Dan Aykroyd, who proposed to her while they were on the set of their film, “The Blues Brothers” in 1980. 

They later got together and got married in August 1983 but it lasted till July 1884 only. She even appeared in Simon’s music video for his several songs. Gregory “Greg” Stevens, a 42-year-old lobbyist, was found dead in Fisher’s California home, for which she claimed that his ghost haunted her mansion and she went on to have drugs again. 

Fisher was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and she had addictions to cocaine and prescription medication for which she even had ECT treatments.

Death of Carrie Fisher

Carrie Fisher died on December 27, 2016, at age 60, at the UCLA Medical Center after intense care of four days. Her cause of death was stated to be a cardiac arrest/deferred later they also found Fisher had cocaine in her system, as well as traces of heroin, other opiates, and MDMA. 

 It happened when she was on a commercial flight on December 23, 2016, when she suffered a medical emergency during a transatlantic flight from London to Los Angeles. 

Passengers next to her seat reported that she had stopped breathing and performed CPR in case. As soon as it landed she was rushed by ambulance to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, where she was placed on a ventilator for almost 4 days. 

Her death was confirmed by her only daughter, Bille Lourd. Just a day after Fisher’s death, her mother Debbie Reynolds suffered a stroke whose last words before getting a stroke was “I want to be with Carrie”. She died later that afternoon and a joint private memorial was held for Fisher and Reynolds on January 5, 2017. 

Fisher was cremated while her mother was entombed. In the absence of a star for Fisher on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, fans created their own memorial using a blank stare.
