Chad Guy Bertrand le Clos is a South African competitive swimmer who is an Olympic, World, and Commonwealth Games champion. He began his competitive swimming career at the age of 10 and by the age of 14, he made his way into South Africa’s senior national team. At the age of 18, he held two senior South African records, Commonwealth Junior and Senior records and he also competed at the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in Singapore, where he won five medals. He has won the Overall Swimming World Cup four times: 2011, 2013, 2014, and 2017. In 2018, he claimed three gold medals in the 50m, 100m, and 200m butterfly events at the Commonwealth Games. - In 2019, he take part in the FINA World Camps in South Korea earning two bronze medals and was named “Swimmer of the Championship” despite a niggling groin injury. Towards the end of the year, he took part in the inaugural International Swimming League (ISL) as co-captain of Team Energy Standard with Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom. The team won the overall title in Las Vegas, Nevada, in December. He won the MVP title at the London stop on the inaugural tour amassing 44.5 points.
