Daniel DiMaggio was born on the 30th July 2004, in Los Angeles, California USA, the son of actor and writer Lou DiMaggio, and actress Loretta Fox – he has two siblings, Michael and Jaclyn.

With his parents deeply involved in acting, Daniel followed them and their work, and early on started expressing his desire to become an actor. He has attended Los Feliz Charter School for the Arts, and is determined to enroll at Harvard, once he finishes high school.

Career Beginnings

Before making his real acting debut, Daniel started by appearing in commercials when he was just eight years old, and just a year later appeared in the short film “Geisho”. After this, he followed with a number of roles in various commercials before in 2013 guest-starring as Young Michael Westen in the action drama series “Burn Notice”.

In 2014 he portrayed Tom Murphy in the family film “A Tiger’ Tail”, starring Greg Grunberg, Darlene Voge, and Christopher Judge, and the same year made several other notable appearances, including as Kyle Ball in the television film “Divide & Conquer, while he was also the voice of Brady in the animated series “Clarence” (2014-2016).

As he gained experience, Daniel received more offers, and in 2015 featured in the film “Tales of Halloween”, and in 2016 secured the role of his career as he was chosen for the part of Oliver Otto in the TV comedy series “American Housewife”.

He joined the rest of the stars including Katy Mixon, Diedrich Bader and Julia Butters, and through 2020 appeared in all 83 episodes of the award-winning series, which made him a star. One interesting fact about his character is that Daniel started attending ballet lessons, as the ballet became an integral part of his character’s story. He desires to enroll at Harvard now, on a ballet scholarship, breaking all the prejudices about young males and ballet.

Back in 2016, he was young Kal-El in the TV series “Supergirl”, while in 2017 he portrayed Young Dusty in the comedy film “Daddy’s Home 2”, while he also sought more possibilities as a voice actor, and from 2016 to 2018 he was the voice of Artie in the animated series “The Loud House”, wand from 2017 to ‘18 lent his voice to several characters in the animated series “Vampirina”, among other such projects.

However, he grew up mainly in New York with his younger brother, John DiMaggio,  the noted voice actor. Lou is best known as the writer of such shows as “The Singing Bee” (2007), then “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader” (2007-2008), and “Common Knowledge” (2019).

Daniel’s mother, Loretta Fox was born in Dayton, Ohio USA, but she hasn’t revealed the date of her birth, though some sources state that it was in 1956. She is an actress as well, and has made over 40 appearances in films and TV series. She is probably best known for playing Althea in the TV comedy series “Strip Mall” (2000-2001), and most recently as Melissa in the TV crime-drama mystery series “Sharp Objects” (2018), among other roles.
