Parents’ Relationship
Following Gwen’s failed relationship with bandmate Tony Kanal, she created some of No Doubt’s biggest hits, including “Don’t Speak”, “Hey You!” and “Sunday Morning”. She met Kingston’s father in 1995 when both Bush and No Doubt headlined a holiday concert for the radio station KROQ. The two began a relationship, and stayed together for the next seven years as their respective careers progressed.
In 2002, the couple held their marriage in London at St. Paul’s in Covent Garden, then two weeks later the couple held another ceremony in Los Angeles.
Their marriage was blissful for the most part, and they kept things quiet as the years progressed. In 2006, while performing at a concert Stefani announced that she was pregnant, and Kingston was born later in the year, the first of the couple’s three children of. Growing up was mostly quiet for Kingston, though he shared the same passion in music as his parents.
Parents’ Divorce
While Kingston sought privacy for most of his life, he did appear in big events alongside his parents. He was noted for being fashionable despite his young age, and was even featured by “GQ” magazine as one of the most stylish young men under 30.
The men’s magazine is known for its focus on fashion and style, though later expanding to tackle culture, sex, fitness, travel, sports, and more. Kingston also started developing his skills as a musician, learning to play several instruments, while also learning how to sing from his parents. In 2015, just a year after the birth of her third child, Kingston’s mother filed for a divorce citing irreconcilable differences, and their divorce was finalized a year later, when an uneven split of their assets was decided upon. She had already begun dating “The Voice” co-star Blake Shelton during their time together in the show.
Shelton was also going through a divorce at the time, and the two bonded over the same experience. This new couple also later alluded to having the same experience of being cheated upon, implying that Kingston’s father was not faithful during the marriage, and that Shelton and his former wife had also been guilty of infidelity.
Father – Gavin Rossdale
Gavin is of Jewish, Russian and Scottish descent. He wanted to make it big as part of a band, and started Bush in the early-1990s. The grunge band is known for their debut album “Sixteen Stone” which led them to mainstream success.
They released five albums during their decade-long run, and by the 2000s, they were one of the best-selling rock groups of the decade, becoming stars in the US.
When Bush went into hiatus, Gavin formed a new band called Institute in which he served as the lead singer and guitarist – the band gained moderate success, but didn’t have the same impact as Bush. He then embarked on a solo career, including working on soundtracks for television shows and films. He released his first solo single called “Love Remains the Same” which marked his first Billboard charting single since his time in Bush, and worked alongside Apolyptica for the single “End of Me”.
He was rewarded with the International Achievement in Songwriting Ivor Novello Award. Bush then went back into activity, releasing three albums since announcing their return in 2010.
Mother – Gwen Stefani
Gwen Stefani was invited to join No Doubt by her brother, keyboardist Eric Stefani. The band was formed in the early 1990s but received little attention due to the popularity of grunge music at the time. The band found their breakthrough in the album “Tragic Kingdom”, and later released hits such as “Hey Baby”. In the 2000s, the band went on hiatus, so Gwen embarked on a solo career, releasing the album “Love. Angel. Music. Baby” which is an ode to the music of the 1980s.
The solo effort proved successful, with numerous hits such as “Hollaback Girl”, “Rich Girl”, and “Cool”. In 2006, she released her second album “The Sweet Escape” which contained the hit title track of the same name. Her latest solo project is “This Is What the Truth Feels Like”, which is her first album to reach the top of the Billboard 200. During her career, she’s won three Grammy Awards and multiple other, including Billboard Music Awards, an American Music Award, and a Brit Award.
She’s also ventured into business, creating the clothing line LAMB, inspired by fashion styles in other countries such as Japan. She is listed as one of the 100 Greatest Women in Music by VH1.
Personal Life
Kingston is still young and so single, busy with his education. Despite all the drama that surrounds his parents, he has remained quiet and out of the media spotlight. Time will tell if he goes on a public career akin to his parents – early signs point that way, as he is already becoming a skilled musician.
