Shilo Sanders was born on 9 February 2000, in Canton, Texas, USA, the son of Deion and his second wife, Pilar Bigger Sanders. He has a sister and two older half-siblings from his father’s first marriage.
His parents were married from 1999 until 2011 – two years later, his father was given primary custody of their two children.
Sanders was born into a family with a strong football background. His father, Deion is a former NFL player, and Pro Football Hall of Famer, while his mother, Pilar Sanders, is a former model and reality TV personality. Shilo grew up in a household where football was a major part of their lives, and it’s no surprise that he developed an interest in the sport at a young age.
Shilo played several sports as a child, including football, basketball and baseball, however, it was in football that he showed the most talent and passion. He started playing organized football at a young age, and by the time he was in high school, he had become a standout player.
At Trinity Christian School in Cedar Hill, Texas, Shilo Sanders played both cornerback and wide receiver for the football team. He quickly gained a reputation as one of the top high school football players in the state of Texas, and led the Tigers to a perfect 14-0 season and a TAPPS Division II state championship in 2018.
He received numerous scholarship offers from major college football programs. including Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee – he and enrolled at the University of South Carolina.
University Career
Shilo played football for two seasons before he transferred to Jackson State University. In his first season, he saw playing time in only two games, but still impressed the scouts. In the second season, he played in nine games and recorded 23 solo tackles to combine to 32 tackles in total. His success earned him a place in the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll in 2019.
After he transferred to Jackson State University, Shilo got more playing time and was able to showcase his true potential. The Jackson State Tigers are a Division I football team in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).
Shilo sat out the 2020 season, and in 2021 returned to his excellent form, playing in 13 games and had a tremendous season, recording 39 tackles in total, with 11 being assisted tackles, and four interceptions for 99 yards.
In the 2022-2023 season, Shilo has so far played in seven games and has made 15 solo tackles and five assisted ones, tallying with one interception.
