Early life and education
Go was raised with an older brother in Jinju in South Gyeongsang by their mother who is a nurse, and their father who is a soldier, and so moved a lot with her father’s postings.
She became interested in modelling while attending elementary school, and when in a local high school, her best friend encouraged her to send her application to SM Entertainment modelling agency, which became her sponsor, and at the age of 13, Go won the SM Entertainment Teen Model Contest. She also started practicing her acting skills after enrolling at high school, and was appearing in most of the school’s plays until matriculation in 2004. Go did not attend college.
Film and music video appearances
In 2007, she made her debut film appearance, starring in the action adventure film “Genghis Khan: To the Ends of the Earth and Sea”, which starred Takashi Sorimachi and Rei Kikukawa and is closely based on the life of the real Genghis Khan.
She portrayed Liz Park in “Dance, Subaru!” in 2009, and was then invited to portray Yoo Ji-won in the drama sport film “Pacemaker”, which starred Sung-Ki Ahn and Tae-Joon Choi, and follows a pacemaker of the Korean national Marathon team. Awards and accolades
Go has been nominated for over 20 awards, and winning eight, her first in 2003. In 2004 she won the KBS Drama Award for the Best Young Actress, and then received a SBS Drama Award for the New Star in 2006. The year 2007 saw her win three awards including a 43rd Baeksang Arts Award for the Best New Actress and a Mnet 20’s Choice Award for the Barbie Girl.

Love life and relationships
There are rumors circulating the internet that Ara is dating Yunho, a singer and a member of the music band TVXQ. The two have known each other since 6th grade, and they grew up together as best friends. It was reported in late 2011 that they had begun dating each other, but Yunho addressed the public in December 2012 when he appeared in the show “Beatles Code 2”, explaining that the two are only good friends. Nevertheless, most people still believe that Go and Yunho have been together for over eight years now.
