Daniel Michael ‘Danny’ DeVito Jr. was born on the 17th November 1944, in Neptune Township, New Jersey, USA, the son of Julia DeVito (née Moccello), and Daniel DeVito Sr., a small business owner. Danny grew up along with his two older sisters and is of Italian descent; his family’s origin is from San Fele, Basilicata, and Calabria. After graduating from Oratory Preparatory School in Summit, New Jersey in 1962, Danny trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, from where he graduated in 1966, but before he became an actor, DeVito was a qualified hairdresser.
