Who is Nanette Lepore?
American fashion designer Nanette Lepore was born in Youngstown, Ohio USA, on 1 January 1964, meaning that Capricorn’s her zodiac sign. She’s probably only known for her work in the fashion industry, as many magazines and other fashion designers have praised Nanette for her designs; the magazine “New York” once wrote about Nanette, describing her designs as ‘feminine, gypsy-influenced and youthful’.
Education and early life
Nanette was raised in Youngstown alongside her sister Michelle Hagan, by their father James Lepore and mother Jeanne McGarry; not many other details have been disclosed about Nanette’s family, but it’s known that her sister’s today married to the Mayor of Youngstown.
She became interested in fashion while attending a local high school in Youngstown, and unlike her peers who wanted to become famous models, Nanette dreamed of becoming a fashion designer. She matriculated in 1982, and then enrolled at Youngstown State University, graduating with an Associate’s degree in 1984; Nanette continued her education at New York City’s Fashion Institute of Technology, from which she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in design in 1986.
Nanette’s career
Nanette struggled to find work following graduation, and only gained recognition after she opened her own boutique store in Los Angeles, California, sometime in the mid-1990s, and began selling her clothes to clients from Asia and Europe.
Her clothing items were then also sold by the American integrated luxury retailer Neiman Marcus Group, Inc. and Nanette began displaying her clothes on catwalks; some of the celebrities who wore her clothes included American actress, producer and director Eva Jacqueline Longoria Baston, American actress Lorraine Bracco, and American actress and moviemaker Illeana Douglas.
Sometime in the first half of the 2000s, Nanette created her own fragrance ‘Nanette’.
In collaboration with Keds. Mischa Barton, she launched her collection of shoes in spring 2007.
Nanette’s today the owner of multiple boutiques in New York City, Chicago, Illinois and Boston, Massachusetts.

Nanette’s active on a number of social media networks, and close to 60,000 people are following her on Instagram today, while she’s posted over 2,600 pictures and videos onto the network; most of her content features her spending time with her friends and family members, while she often features her daughter Violet in her pictures.
She’s been active on Twitter since February 2009 and has tweeted close to 6,500 times, most of which are related to fashion; Nanette’s followed by over 21,000 people on this network.
More than 30,000 people are following her Facebook page today, but it’s only used to promote Nanette’s clothes rather than to offer an insight into her everyday life.
Nanette has a TikTok account, as well, but it’s followed by only two people as she’s yet to upload any content – it’s widely believed that the account is fake.

Nanette doesn’t have a YouTube channel, but is nevertheless popular on the video sharing service, as many YouTubers have uploaded videos onto their channels, in which they’re talking about Nanette’s clothes and everyday life. Most of these are relatively older videos as they were uploaded around 10 years ago, and we’re about to write about Nanette’s three most popular videos amongst these, as they’ve contributed to her internet popularity.
Her #1 video “Backstage at NY Fashion Week! ♥ Nanette Lepore Show” was uploaded by Annie Jaffrey on 30 September 2013, and has been watched close to 40,000 times; it features Annie watching models prepare for New York Fashion Week, as well as interviewing various fashion designers and hairdressers.
Nanette’s second most popular video “Shop With ME BURLINGTON BEBE ROOM BATHROOM NANETTE LEPORE HOME DECOR WALK THROUGH 2018” was uploaded by Reis World on 27 February 2018, and has since been watched close to 35,000 times; it features a YouTuber exploring Nanette’s home décor pieces.

Love life and marriage
Nanette avoids speaking about her love life in public, and only a couple of details about it have been disclosed. She’s today married to American businessman, singer and artist Robert J. Savage; the date of their wedding remains undisclosed, but it’s believed that they’ve been together for more than two decades now. Nanette’s opened up about their home organization, revealing that she’s paying for a cleaning lady, that Robert’s paying the bills, and revealed that it’s mostly Robert who does the cooking, because she usually doesn’t have time to do it.
Nanette has a daughter Violet, who was born in 2002 when Nanette was 38 years old; it hasn’t been disclosed whether or not Robert is Violet’s father, and if he and Nanette were married at the time of her birth.
She’s yet to speak of other men whom she’s perhaps been with, Nanette’s married to Robert J. Savage as of May 2023, and has a daughter.
