Early Life – Birth, and Family
Suzanne was born on 4 December 1966 in Lansing, Michigan USA, of African, French and Spanish descent. She was born into a Louisiana Creole originally based in New Orleans. Her Father is Floyd Joseph Malveaux, who is a doctor and dean of Howard University’s College of Medicine, and the founder of the National Human Genome Center of the University.
He is currently the executive director of the Merck Childhood Asthma Network. Her mother was Myrna Maria Ruiz, a teacher now deceased.
Suzanne has an identical twin – Suzette M. Malveaux – who is a professor at the Columbus School of Law, and two other siblings, Courtney M. Malveaux and Gregory F. Malveaux. All her siblings are accomplished and successful in their fields – Courtney was a former Assistant Attorney General for Virginia, and former chairman of the Richmond Republican Committee.
She is currently the Commissioner of the Department of Labor and Industry of the state of Virginia. Gregory, on the other hand, works at Montgomery College as an Associate Professor of English. Career
Suzanne started as a reporter for the New England Cable News in Boston, Massachusetts in 1992, until 1996 when she moved to work as a reporter for WRC-TV, an NBC affiliate channel covering local and crime news in Washington, DC.
In 1999 she was recruited by host Tim Russert to join NBC News, where she worked as a reporter for three years, during which time she was assigned as a Pentagon Correspondent. She also worked as White House correspondent, covering controversial news like Bill Clinton’s oval office affair, his subsequent impeachment, the 2000 Presidential Election, the 9/11 attacks, and many others. Suzanne has made significant leaps in her career, working as a substitute anchor for Wolf Blitzer’s show on CNN – “The Situation Room.”
She also became the co-anchor of the popular CNN program “Around the World,” and hosted “The Root 100,” an eight-part series on the Aspire TV Network.
