Since September 2018, he presents his own Channel 5 daily current affairs show, Jeremy Vine. He has also hosted or presented several other shows.

He became a regular reporter on the BBC Radio 4 program, Today in 1989. While working for Today, he published two comic novels, Forget Heaven, Just Kiss Me, and The Whole World in My Hands.
- He became familiar to BBC TV viewers as a political reporter in the mid-1990s. He reported on the ascent of New Labour under Tony Blair and the 1997 General Election.
- Following the 1997 election, Vine became the Africa Correspondent based in Johannesburg and traveled all over Africa. He reported the Eritrean-Ethiopian War, the Angolan Civil War, the violence in Lesotho, and the elections in Algiers and Kenya. He had interviewed the then-president of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe, and the leader of the Islamist regime in Khartoum, Sudan.
- Vine’s exclusive report on South Africa police brutality for BBC Two’s Newsnight in 1999 won the Silver Nymph at the Monte Carlo Television Festival. The film resulted in the suspension of 22 police officers. He joined Newsnight full-time in 1999 as a co-presenter.
- He was one of the original presenters of Broadcasting House on BBC Radio 4. He presented The Politics Show on BBC One from 2003 to 2005. He became the presenter of the BBC election graphics in 2006.
- He took over from long-time host Sir Jimmy Young as the host of the BBC Radio 2 lunchtime program in 2003. The show presents news, views, interviews with live guests, and popular music.
