He was expelled from high school after he was caught forging his report card, but eventually matriculated from the Island Trees High School in 1967.

Life Before Music

Before Eddie pursued music as a professional career, he tried joining the police, following the footsteps of his father, grandfather, and brother as well. He joined as a New York City Department trainee, but soon realized that this wasn’t for him, as he couldn’t see himself in the police for the next 20 years with short hair; also, he didn’t have luck with his bandmates, as they didn’t want a law representative in their band. Once his father was informed about his choice to leave police for music, he wasn’t happy and tore down the poster of Jimmy Hendrix that Eddie had in his room.

Career

Eddie moved to Berkley, California in 1968, where he started training under vocal coach Judy Davis, and corrupted his name to Eddie Money. During this time he lived off selling bell-bottoms, then as a solo act, he started performing at night clubs in the San Francisco Bay Area, and was spotted by Bill Graham, with whose help he signed a contract with Columbia Records. His debut self-titled studio album became an immediate success and achieved platinum status in the US. He established himself with the hit singles “Baby Hold On”, and “Two Tickets to Paradise”, and continued on his career successfully, releasing a total of 11 albums before his death, marking his place in the music industry with songs such as “Think I’m In Love”, “Take Me Home Tonight”, “The Love in Your Eyes”, and “Peace in Our Time”.
