The more my white hair grows, the less I wish to take & display pictures of myself. 👻 But I wanted to post a picture with this poem that took me 3 days to write & didn’t want to rely on a past photo. So I’m channeling a release of my grip on my vanity & insecurity, instead going with the flow, like I attempted with this poem. 🤍 These stanzas originated from thoughts about my white hair & my battle with a little spider to stop weaving her web on my balcony. The web made me flail and curse every time I walked onto my balcony in the dark; it tickled my flesh and stuck to my hair. At first, I used a yardstick to tear down the web. The same yardstick I used to knight Lavi since I call him “young sir” all the time (I used to call Roxi “young lady”). I don’t need quarantine to be this weird, so don’t blame it on that. 🤪 Anyway, after 3 days of the spider rebuilding her web—her home—I stopped thrashing its existence. Eventually, the wind must have relocated her in the night, & it reminded me that one day the wind will collect my ashes & relocate me too. 💀 This poem isn’t perfect, but I’ve decided to post it anyway. I kind of term that as bravery, not in the sense of facing fire or being in the line of fire, but in the sense of displaying vulnerability. 🤍 Please don’t steal my poem. At least wait until I’ve solidified it & polished it before you break my copyright laws. I jest. Don’t ever steal my writing, no matter the form. 👿 🕸 Thin threads Swaying in the breeze Little bulbous spider Spinning at the epicenter Little does she know The human’s tornado Soon to emit From the swing of a yardstick. 🕸 Thin threads Dangling from the flower pots Little bulbous spider Scrambling to safety Little does the human suspect The spider’s intellect Soon to weave Through the depths of her grief. 🕸 Thin threads Appearing once again Little bulbous spider Dwelling in the dew drops Little does either creature consider The nature’s plunder Soon to join Beyond the bounds of this earth. 🕸 ~Jodi Leigh Miller 🕸 🕸 🕸 🤍 #mondaymotivation #poetry #writer #poetryofinstagram #fitover40 #murves #girlswithbiceps #womenwholift #dachshund #dogmom #grayhairdocare #converse #girlswithmuscle
