John Franklin was born in Blue Island, Illinois USA, on 16 June 1959 – his zodiac sign is Gemini and he holds American nationality. John is a former school teacher, writer and an actor, who is perhaps best known for his portrayal of Isaac Chroner in the horror thriller movie “Children of the Corn” in 1984, which starred Peter Horton, Linda Hamilton and R. Childhood and education
John was raised alongside his four brothers and one sister in Blue Island, by their father who worked at an insurance agency, and their mother who was a cleaning lady – the big family had just enough money to pay the bills and put food on the table, but not enough for any luxuries.
John was diagnosed with a growth hormone deficiency at a very early age, which is why he never got to reach the ‘adult height’. He attended Dwight D. Eisenhower High School at which he became interested in acting as well as in teaching, and upon matriculation in 1977, he took two years off before enrolling at the University of Illinois, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1983 – this was when he moved to Los Angeles in California, and started pursuing his acting career.
Roles in TV series
John made his debut TV series appearance in 1984 when cast to play two characters in two episodes of the comedy musical series “Kids Incorporated”, which starred Fergie, Moosie Drier and Rahsaan Patterson, and is about several kids who are performing at a club for children.
John was then appeared in single episodes of many series, such as the episode “Alone” of the drama fantasy “Highway to Heaven” in 1986, “Promises of Someday” of the crime fantasy drama “Beauty and the Beast” in 1988, and the episode “V-Fibbing” of the drama mystery thriller “Chicago Hope” in 1996.
He portrayed Dewey Todd in the adventure comedy drama “The Wonderful World of Disney” in 1997, and was then Kipp in the episode “Critical Care” of the action adventure science fiction series “Star Trek: Voyager” in 2000.
John’s three most recent roles in TV series have been in the 2015episode “The Medium” of the comedy horror mystery “Hell’s Kitty”, in which he played Isaiah in, the episode “Chasing Amy” of the comedy crime series “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” in which he played Tina Boyle in 2017 and the episode “Measure Twice, Cut Once” of the comedy “Fresh Off the Boat” in which he played Lorenzo in 2018.
Roles in movies
John voiced the lead character Magical Mose in the short adventure movie “The Kingdom Chums: Little David’s Adventure” in 1986, and was then almost appeared in the film “The Man Who Broke 1,000 Chains”, but his scenes were deleted from the final movie.
In 1988, he voiced Walkabout Chucky in the fantasy horror thriller “Child’s Play” which starred Catherine Hicks, Chris Sarandon and Alex Vincent, and is about a doll possessed by the ghost of a serial killer – the movie won two awards and was nominated for three others.
The year 1991 saw him portray Cousin It in the comedy fantasy film “The Addams Family”, which starred Anjelice Huston, Raul Julia and Christopher Lloyd, and is about con artists who is trying to rob an eccentric family with the help of an accomplice who disguises as their long-lost uncle – the movie won five awards and was nominated for 21 others, including an Oscar.
In 1993, John reprised his role in “Addams Family Values”, then in 1994 portrayed Bobby in the comedy science fiction movie “Tammy and the T-Rex”, which received mixed reviews. The year 1997 saw him play one of the lead characters Little Mike in the comedy “George B.” written and directed by Eric Lea and John reprised his role as Isaac in “Children of the Corn 666: Isaac’s Return” in 1999.
In 2000, he played Morluv in the drama family fantasy “The Christmas Secret”, and after taking a four-year break from acting, returned to play Master Keldar in the comedy “Tales of a Fly on the Wall”, as well as Marriage Counselor in the short horror thriller “Hag”, written and directed by Erik Gardner who also starred in the film.
Two of John’s most recent roles in movies have been in the comedy fantasy horror “Monsterland” in 2016, and the 2018 comedy horror “Hell’s Kitty”, which was both written and directed by Nicholas Tana.
Until recently, John was teaching Shakespeare and English language at Golden Valley High School.
Love life and husband
John realised that he was gay while attending high school – he was attracted to boys, but still wanted to test this by going out with girls, which only proved him right. He had his first boyfriend while attending college, but they kept the relationship hidden as neither of them had told anyone that they were gay. In 1996, John met non-celebrity man David White after they were introduced by a mutual friend, and they started dating, but kept the relationship hidden for a year before coming out to their friends and family. In September 2008, the two married in a private ceremony attended by only a couple of their closest friends.
John and David have been together to this day, they don’t have any children, haven’t tried adopting, but have several pet dogs and cats.
Hobbies and other interests
John is a huge fan of ‘the old’ music and a few of his favorite bands and performers are The Beatles, Duran Duran and Trisha Yearwood – he has been to numerous concerts and festivals and has bought many vinyl records.
He likes to watch movies in his spare time and his favorite actor is Edward Norton while a few of his favorite movies are “American History X”, “Primal Fear” and “Keeping the Faith” – his favorite actress is Sandra Bullock, and her movies “The Proposal” and “While You Were Sleeping”.
John likes to travel, meet new people and explore new cultures, and has been to Europe on multiple occasions while he has also visited China and Japan in Asia and Egypt in Africa. He urges young people to travel, and learn more about the world before they settle down and start a family.

John’s age is 61. He has short brown hair and brown eyes, his height is 5ft (1.52m) and he weighs around 110lbs (50kgs).
