Justin was raised in Agoura Hills alongside his older brother Lorne by their father Eric ‘Rick Berfield who was a real estate agent, and their mother Gail who was a teacher.

Lorne has also become an actor and is known for appearing in the comedy series “Evening Shade” in 1990, the action drama show “Double Blast” in 1994, and the comedy series “Someone Like Me” in 1994 as well.

Justin became interested in acting after he saw Lorne appear in several series as well as in his school plays, and decided to try and become an actor. He began training in the school’s drama club, while Lorne also took Justin onto the sets of series he was shooting for. Upon matriculating from high school, Justin didn’t pursue a college degree, but focused on his acting career.

Roles in movies and producing credits

Justin made his debut film appearance in 2001, when he portrayed Caption Writer in the comedy movie “Max Keeble’s Big Move”, which starred Alex D. Linz, Larry Miller and Jamie Kennedy, and which followed a young boy who is trying to get his revenge after being bullied by his peers. For his performance, Justin was nominated for a Young Artist Award for the Best Performance in a Feature Film: Supporting Young Actor.

In 2006, he produced the romantic comedy musical “Romance and Cigarettes” which starred James Gandolfini, Susan Sarandon and Kate Winslet, and which follows the story of a man who has to choose between his wife and his mistress.
