Early life and education
Kandyse was raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, as her parents moved there when she was two years old – her father was a travelling salesman, while her mother was a teacher. Kandyse grew up dreaming about becoming a famous model or an actress one day, and studied at West Vancouver Secondary School where she was a member of the school’s drama club, appearing in most of the plays they performed. After matriculating in 1998, she didn’t enroll at a college, but rather decided to work on her acting career.

After working several jobs to financially support herself while attending auditions for roles in movies and TV series, in 2000 she made her debut TV series appearance in the drama “Higher Ground” in which she portrayed the lead character Katherine Ann ‘Kat’ Cabot.
The series also starred Joe Lando, Hayden Christensen and A. J. Cook, and follows a rich man who moves to the mountains in the Northwestern US to serve as the headmaster of the Mount Horizon school. In the same year, Kandyse guest starred in single episodes of “Level 9”, and “Da Vinci’s Inquest”.
