In the rest of the snapshots, bruises can be seen on her legs and arms. The posts have since been deleted from the Instagram account. The police, according to British newspapers such as ‘The Sun’ and ‘Mirror’, is already investigating the facts to clarify them. Manchester United has also taken note of the matter. It issued a formal note to the media: “We are aware of the images and allegations circulating on social media. We will not comment further until the facts have been clarified. Manchester United does not condone violence of any kind”. The club followed that up by announcing they had suspended Greenwood. “Mason Greenwood will not return to training or play matches until further notice,” their statement read. Whereas Mason Greenwood has not yet made a statement. Greater Manchester Police issued a statement “Greater Manchester Police is aware of images and videos circulating on social media. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.” GMP has since confirmed they have arrested Greenwood on suspicion of rape and assault. “An investigation was launched and following inquiries, we can confirm a man in his 20s has since been arrested on suspicion of rape and assault. He remains in custody for questioning. Inquiries are ongoing.” The 20-year-old, Mason Greenwood has made 24 appearances for the Red Devils this season, scoring six times and has a contract until 2024, with an option to extend by another year.
