Early life and Education

Mauricio Umansky was born on 25 June 1976, in Mexico City, Mexico. He and his sister, Sharon Umansky Benton, were raised by their parents, real estate agent Eduardo Umansky, and Estella Sneider, who is a famous Mexican TV personality, sex therapist, author, psychologist, and socialite, best known for her appearance in the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”.

Sometime during Mauricio’s childhood, she and Eduardo divorced and Estella was given custody of their children. Through his parents, Mauricio is of Russian, Greek-Jewish, and British descent.

When he was just a few years old, he was diagnosed with neutropenia, a condition that happens when a person has an abnormally low concentration of a certain type of white blood cells, called neutrophils. People with this condition are much more prone to bacterial infections, and they might even develop deadly neutropenic sepsis. Because of this, Umansky had to spend years under various hospital treatments.

After matriculating from an undisclosed high school, Umansky enrolled at the University of Southern California, located in Los Angeles, but dropped out before graduating so that he could focus on launching his own business.

Umansky started his entrepreneurial career by founding his own clothing line, called “90265”, but sold it after just a few years, apparently at a huge profit. He then joined the real estate company part-owned by his brother-in-law, Rick Hilton, named “Hilton and Hyland”.

He even won the prestigious Golden Palm Award for having the most innovative large company in Beverly Hills.
