Jean spent most of her spare time with Emmeline at the theatre, where she became interested in acting, and where a few famous theatre actors and actresses gave her advice on how to act. Jean attended a public high school where she joined the school’s drama club, and appeared in most of the plays. Upon matriculation she didn’t enroll at college, but rather decided to pursue her acting career.

Jean appeared in numerous movies and TV series, and for her contribution to the British film and TV industry, received the Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2012, which is an order of chivalry given to those who have worked in the fields of arts and sciences.
