Family’s personal life
Manuela filed two lawsuits against, billionaire businessman, Sumner Redstone, in August 2018. She fought to reclaim ownership of an apartment in the Carlyle Hotel. Since being evicted from the Los Angeles home of Sumner and his daughter, Shari Redstone in 2015, Manuela has been in a legal battle against both of them. At the L.A. Superior Court in Santa Monica, she sued the 96-year-old Viacom mogul, claiming that he had purchased the $3.75 million Carlyle Hotel apartment as a gift for her in 2014.
In January 2019, the Californian court granted Manuela $50 million, and Sumner’s mansion valued at $20 million.
Career
At the young age of 6, Katherine was supported and encouraged by her family to follow her dreams, so she began acting. In 2005, she appeared in the incredibly popular movie, “Mr. and Mrs Smith,” starring Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. As well as “A Lot Like Love,” which starred Taryn Manning, Kathryn Hahn, Amanda Peet, Ali Larter, Ashton Kutcher and Kal Penn; the movie was directed by Jason Reitman.
Her real claim-to-fame is her role as Elizabeth McCord and Henry’s daughter, Alison McCord, in CBS TV’s series “Madam Secretary,” from 2014. The American political drama series was created by Barbara Hall and followed Elizabeth (played by Téa Leoni) as the US Secretary of State, who was formerly a political science professor and CIA analyst. The show also stars Patina Miller. The series ran on CBS from 21 September 2014 to 8 December 2019 and aired 120 episodes.
In May 2019, the sixth and final season of the series was announced, the networked added that the season would consist of ten episodes. The sixth season premiered on 6 October 2019 and filming ended on 13 November 2019. Katherine has also appeared in television series in support guest roles, including in popular shows such as “Without a Trace” from 2004-2019; “NCIS” and “The Mentalist” both in 2008; in 2009 as Tanya in “Little Monk” and as Missy in “Three Rivers”; in 2012 she played a young Anne Frank in “American Horror Story”, and in 2014, Lauren in “Men, Women and Children.”
While she was still in university, she worked alongside the then vice-president of the US, Al Gore, when she interned at the presidential office in Washington DC, mainly working with him on his climate reality project.
Personal life
She didn’t grow up in a financially-abundant household. To learn how to act and dance, she would stand outside of acting and dancing lessons and watch the students, and would then go home and practice what she observed in front of her mirror.
She became very good with dramatic roles. To assist her family financially, she earned money doing menial-tasked jobs.
Her mentors are her on-screen parents, Téa Leoni and Tim Daly, but she is tight-lipped about her biological father.
