Career Progression

In 2011 she lent her voice for the animated short “Toy Story Toons: Hawaiian Vacation” which featured characters from “Toy Story”, following the events of “Toy Story 3”. After some time working in theatre, she returned to on-screen work with the independent film “The Way, Way Back” which stars Liam James, Steve Carell, and Toni Collette, which took a long time in production due to the lack of funding, but was ultimately a success at the box office.

This would start a string of projects she worked on during 2013.

She made a guest appearance in the television show “Arrested Development”, and then worked on the film “Palo Alto” which is based on the short story collection of the same name written by actor James Franco – the film featured her alongside Franco, Jack Kilmer and Emma Roberts. Her last project during the year was another independent film – “Beneath the Harvest Sky” – which featured Emory Cohen and Calla McAuliffe, and tells the story of two teenagers who get involved in the smuggling of illegal prescription drugs between Maine and Canada. The film was premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Rise to Fame

In 2014, Zoe became a regular cast member of the teen series “Red Band Society” ,which aired on Fox. It follows a group of teenage patients who live together in a pediatric ward of a hospital, and was inspired by the Catalan series “Polseres vermeles”, which has a similar plot. The US remake was initially set as a project by Steven Spielberg, but it was discontinued before the Fox Network picked it up, but ran for only one season before it was canceled.

After working on a few more independent projects, she would gain a lot of attention for her work in the Netflix series “Bonding”, which stars her alongside Micah Stock and Theo Stockman.

The show follows the story of a student who secretly works as a dominatrix at night, and the struggle she experiences balancing her work and life as a student. The show is said to be based on the experience of the show’s creator Rightor Doyle. It tackles the BDSM community, and how some people find the experience with it helpful in their lives.

Recent Projects

“Bonding” has recently been renewed for a second season, and is set to start production once more with a release date set sometime in 2021. However, recent issues with the spread of the coronavirus have led to a lot of delays within the industry, and “Bonding” has yet to announce that they would start their production.

Levin also worked on another independent film, her second collaboration with actor James Franko in “The Long Home”, featuring various prominent artists such as Josh Hutcherson, Courtney Love, and Tim Blake Nelson. It is based on the William Gay novel of the same name, telling the story of a man who starts working for a businessman, unbeknownst of the fact that the corrupt businessman murdered his father years ago. In the process, he becomes involved with a young woman in town, who is secretly an escort employed by the businessman. An elderly recluse also starts surfacing with proof that the businessman is a murderer.

The tale unfolds with a sense of supernatural justice being handed out, as events start to line-up in place. The film was completed in 2015, but due to the lack of support for its distribution, is now set for release in 2020.
