Saraya Jade Bevis was born on August 17, 1992.  She is an English professional wrestler and actress. Saraya Jade Bevis currently signed to WWE. Her ring name is Paige, and she is performing on the Raw brand. Saraya Jade Bevis is now on hiatus because of injury. She is the two-time Divas Champion and was the inaugural NXT Women’s Champion in the WWE’s developmental branch NXT and holding both of the championships concurrently at one time. She is also the first competitor born in the 1990s to win a championship in WWE.

In 2005, at 13 years of age, Saraya Jade Bevis made her debut in World Association of Wrestling, and the ring name of her was Britani Knight. She went on to hold the several championships on the independent circuit within Europe. Saraya signed a contract with WWE and started wrestling in 2011 within its developmental structures. In April 2004, she eventually debuted on the WWE’s main roster. In her debut match in the main round, she won the Divas Championship and becoming the youngest champion at the tender age of 21.

She was born and grew up in Norwich, Norfolk. She is the daughter of the professional wrestlers named as Ian Bevis and Julia Hamer-Bevis. Her mother Julia Hamer Bevis once unknowingly wrestled while she was seven months pregnant with Saraya Jade Bevis. Saraya was scared of wrestling when she was a child, because of injuries Bevis’s family received.
She was also interested in zoology and wanted to become a zoologist. When Bevis was 13 years of age, she officially made her debut as a wrestler. At the tender age of 15, Saraya Jade Bevis worked as a bouncer and bartender at her parents’ bar while they were away. She attended The Hewett School in Norwich and graduating in 2008.

European independent circuit (2005–2011)

Saraya Jade Bevis made her debut in 2005. When she was 13 years of age, her father asked her to replace a wrestler who failed to turn up. Her previous recorded match was in April 2006 at that time Bevis ring name was Britani Knight and teamed with her mother for a loss in the triple threat tag team match in World Association of Wrestling (WAW).

The Norfolk Tag Team

After that Knight allied with Melodi to form a tag team called the Norfolk Dolls which based on the movie named The California Dolls and they wrestled in various English promotions. In June 2007 The Norfolk Dolls Tag team won the new World Association of Women’s Wrestling Tag Team Championship by defeating the Legion of Womb. But it became inactive because of no title defenses by the Norfolk Dolls.

At the tender age of 14, Knight sent résumés to different wrestling promotions around Europe and get a chance to wrestle in the countries like Wales, Belgium, Scotland, France, Turkey, Denmark, Norway, Germany, and the United States. She managed to travel by herself at the age of 14.

Single Championships

Without much initial success, Bevis began to compete for singles championships. In September 2007, Knight wrestled for the World Wide Wrestling League (W3L) Women’s Title, but she lost to Sara in the tournament finals. Bevis took part in a tournament where the winner would become the first WAWW British Champion in December 2007, but she again lost in the finals to Jetta.

In 2008, she challenged both Sara and Jetta for their respective titles but failed in her title bids. Knight went on to achieve the more singles success from
2009. In August 2009, Knight defeated her mother named as Sweet Saraya in a two-out-of-three falls match to capture the vacant Herts and Essex Women’s Championship.

Later on, she once again defeated Saraya to win the WAWW British Championship. In November 2009, Saraya Jade Bevis captured the Real Deal Wrestling (RDW) Women’s Championship from her mother in an elimination fight also featuring Chelsey Love and Stacey Baybie. While in HEW, she won the RQW Women’s Championship by defeating Jetta in December 2009. On 17 July 2010, Bevis lost the HEW Women’s Championship to her mother.

On 22 January 2011, Knight won the German Stampede Wrestling Ladies’ Championship from Blue Nikita. In January 2011, she also competed at the debut show of Turkish Power Wrestling in Ankara, but she lost to Shanna. On 11 March, she again won the HEW Women’s Championship from her mother.

EVE Championship

Bevis returned to Pro-Wrestling: EVE on 8th April to participate in a two-night tournament. In the first night, she lost a four-way fight to Jenny Sjödin, but she won the Last Chance battle royal and then defeated Sjödin in the quarter-final match. The second night, Saraya Jade Bevis defeated Jetta in the semi-final match. And later in the finals, she beat Nikki Storm to win the Pro Wrestling: EVE Championship. On 30 April, Bevis won the SCW Ladies Championship by beating Amy Cooper, and in 2011, she won an elimination fight to become the WAWW Hardcore Champion.

Shimmer Women Athletes

On 26th March 2011 at the tapings of Volume 37 in Berwyn, Illinois Bevis, again billed as Britani Knight, debuted for the Shimmer Women Athletes. In October 2011 at Volume 42, they lost another Shimmer Tag Team Championship match against Ayako Hamada and Ayumi Kurihara when Saraya denied helping Britani. After the match, Saraya then scolded Britani. Britani lost to Jessie McKay at Volume 43, which was her 3rd consecutive loss.

Saraya Jade Bevis was first informed that there would be try-outs for WWE when a talent scout came to show in England. She failed in her first attempt in November 2010, but later she succeeded in April 2011. Bevis signed a contract with WWE in September 2011 and also assigned to its then-developmental territory, Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW). On 5th January 2012, she made her debut for FCW at a house show, using the ring name Saraya. Later on, her ring name changed to Paige. On 26 February she made her televised debut in FCW TV.

WWE went on to rename its developmental territory FCW into NXT. Paige’s NXT television debut took place on the third episode of the rebooted NXT, which taped at Full Sail University, in this match she lost to Sofia Cortez.

In September 2012, after gaining a massive surge in crowd support, she went on a winning strip defeating the famous wrestlers like Audrey Sasha Banks, Emma, Aksana, Marie. On 30th January 2013, Paige was assaulted by the ring announcer Summer Rae, because of Paige’s popularity and success.

Bevis suffered a shoulder injury after brawling with Rae on 13th February episode of NXT. She beat Rae in a singles match, in spite of Rae’s pre-match attack, on the 1 May episode of NXT. In June, Paige won the first NXT Women’s Champion. On the 14 August episode of NXT, she made her first successful title defense by defeating Summer Rae.

Divas Champion (2014-2015)

On 7th April 2014 episode of Raw, Saraya Jade Bevis made her unannounced debut on the main roster, the night after the WrestleMania XXX. Aj Lee challenged her to an impromptu match for the championship, and Paige quickly won that fight. She is the youngest Divas Champion in history at the age of 21. She is the first Diva to win the title in her first fight, and she is also the only woman to hold both of the Divas and NXT Women’s Championships at the same time. Paige defended her title on the 28 April episode of Raw against Brie Bella.

Hiatus and return (2016-present)

As a part of 2016 WWE draft which held on 19 July, she drafted to Raw. On 3 August, her mother posted on Twitter that she was on a hiatus because of injury. On 17 August, Bevis suspended for almost 30 days due to the violation of the company’s wellness policy. Later on, she described that she had not failed a drug test, but that the suspension was due to the procedural issue.

In September 2016, Paige exposed that she would be undergoing the neck surgery and would not be wrestling for a couple of months. After some time Paige suspended again for her second violation of the wellness policy on 10 October. But this time for 60 days. She was cleared to return to in-ring competition in September 2017.

Bevis is a part of the professional wrestling family. Her parent’s name is Julia Hamer-Bevis and Ian Bevis. She is the younger sister of Roy Bevis and Zak Frary. They all are professional wrestlers. Her family runs the World Association of Wrestling (WAW) promotion in Norwich. Her mother owns and operates Bellatrix Female Warriors which is a women’s wrestling promotion and also based in Norwich.

For some time the WWE Hall of Famer Jake “The Snake” Roberts lived with her family. Bevis, some favorite wrestlers are Stone Cold Steve Austin, cites Bull Nakano, Alundra Blayze, Lita, and Rikishi.
