Yoon Jeonghan was born on the 4th October 1995 in Seoul, South Korea; so far he hasn’t said much about his family, only that his parents have supported him in his career, and that he has a younger sister.

He went to Hyangnam High School, from which he matriculated in 2014, and soon after joined Pledis Entertainment.

Career Beginnings

With Pledis Entertainment, Jeonghan practiced his vocal skills for about two years before Seventeen was formed. Seventeen went through several line-up changes, and now consists of the musicians, S. Coups, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seunghwan, Vernon, and Dino. Before the band’s official debut, they were a part of the television show “Seventeen TV”, which showcased the band’s formation and first steps into the music scene.

Their first ‘official’ appearance on television was on MBC on the 26th May 2015, and three days later they released their debut EP entitled “17 Carat”, which reached No. 4 on the Korean chart, and No. 8 on the US World chart, actually becoming the longest-charting K-pop album of the year in the US.

The same year the world saw the release of the band’s second EP, “Boys Be”, which topped the US World chart, and reached No. 2 on the Korean chart, becoming the highest selling rookie album of 2015.

With the release of new music, the group organized concerts from 24th to 26th December, ending a successful year with a big Seoul concert. They continued to make new music, and their first full-length album – “Love & Letter” – came out on the 25th April 2016, topped the Korean chart and reaching No. 3 on the US World chart. Furthermore, the album made it on the Japanese chart, reaching No. 8, while it also peaked at No. 5 on the US Heatseekers chart.

Rise to Prominence

With the success of the band the group was becoming more popular, including Yeonghan. Before the year ended, they released their third EP – “Going Seventeen” – and their first to top the Korean charts. The following year was even more successful, which they started with six concerts in Japan from 15th to 24th February, with the title of the concerts “17 Japan Concert: Sat The Name #Seventeen”; after the last concert, it was estimated that the group attracted audiences of over 50,000.

In May 2017 Seventeen released another EP – “AI1” – which also topped the Korean charts, while later that year, the group released their second full-length album “Teen, Age”, which topped both Korean and US World charts., and the group went on a world tour, performing through Asia and North America in thirteen cities overall.

Since then, Jeonghan and the whole group have become stars, and have released new music, including the mini-album in Japan “We Make You” in May 2018 and their sixth and seventh EPs, “You Make My Day”, and “You Made My Dawn”, while the third full-length studio album “An Ode” came out on the 16th September 2019.

However, Jeonghan has been away from the band since late 2019, as he has experienced some health problems, and on the doctor’s suggestion, has been on leave from the whole music scene, until he recovers.
