Shannon was raised an only child in Sunrise by her father who was a football coach, and her mother who was teaching at a local high school.

Shannon became interested in journalism after she watched news programs on TV with her parents.
While attending elementary school, Shannon found out that she was suffering from Scoliosis, a medical condition in which one’s spine has a sideways curve, so when she was 12 she underwent surgery to fix it. She attended Piper High School. where she was physically active as she ran track and played soccer, and upon matriculation in 1994, she enrolled at Florida Atlantic University in Bocan Raton from which she graduated in 1998.
Career as a journalist
Shannon launched her career in 1999 when she began her internship working for Neil Rogers, an American radio talk show personality, and then worked several jobs in the following years, such as at Speed Channel hosting the program “NASCAR Nation”. She soon started hosting the program “Back Seat Drivers” alongside Marty Smith, who is an American sports journalist perhaps best known for the work he has done on the ESPN network. Shannon has also worked with the WCCB network, and Carolina Sports and Entertainment Television.
She joined NASCAR in 2007, becoming their pit reporter while often contributing to their shows “NASCAR Countdown” and “NASCAR Now”. During the 2008 season, she was a NASCAR reporter for ESPN, covering all the Sprint Cup races as well as the Nationwide Cup. On 13 August 2013, she renewed her contract with ESPN for several additional years, but the network lost its broadcasting rights for NASCAR to NBC Sports in 2015.
On 6 July 2016, Shannon joined the Fox Network team, and started covering college football and basketball for them, while she was also serving as a pit road reporter for NASCAR. She soon started covering National Football League (NFL) games, and contributed to the program “NASCAR Race Hub” before becoming the show’s co-host on 13 February 2013, after Danielle Trotta quit and left Adam Alexander to host alone.
She had her debut film involvement in 2017, when she was invited to voice Shannon Spokes in the animated adventure comedy film “Cars 3”, which also involved Owen Wilson, Cristela Alonzo and Chris Cooper, and which is about Lightning McQueen who is trying to prove that he is the best racer in the world.
Shannon is currently working for Fox Sports as their NASCAR correspondent, while she is also covering football and basketball games.
Love life and relationships
Shannon met Jerry McSorley in 2006, and the two started dating several days later.
They married on 14 April 2008 in a small ceremony in Ireland attended by their closest friends and family, and Shannon gave birth to their identical twins Brady and Liam on 1 January 2010. The family of four is currently living at their home in Los Angeles, California.
Jerry attended Hendrick Hudson High School from 1991 to 1995, where he was physically active, excelling at football, and upon matriculation he enrolled at Rochester Institute of Technology, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He launched his own company – Sagebrook Homes – in 2004, but closed it in 2008, while he also ran his second company, Red Clay Developments from May 2005 to July 2009.
Since February 2007, Jerry has been serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Eye Trax, Inc., which is ‘the leading manufacturer of solar powered, wireless security camera systems’.
Hobbies and other interests
Shannon has been physically active since she was a teenager, and although her doctors told her there was little chance that she would be able to participate in any sports after her scoliosis surgery, she trained every day, and has completed two marathons and several triathlons, and finished an Ironman. She likes to travel and has been all around the US for both work and pleasure, while she has also been to Europe on several occasions, visiting countries such as England and Italy.
She is a philanthropist, who has worked with several charity organizations, mostly those focused on cancer research and helping underprivileged children, while Shannon is also a huge lover of animals, and has a pet dog.
She likes to watch movies late at night and some of her favorite actors and actresses are Leonardo DiCaprio, Channing Tatum and Angelina Jolie, while some of her favorite movies include “Titanic”, “Dear John”, and “Mr. and Mrs Smith”.
