Early life and education

Rebecca was raised an only child in San Antonio by her mother who worked as a nurse at a local hospital, and her father who taught English at a high school. Rebecca grew up watching a lot of TV with her mother, and this is how she became interested in dancing – her mother enrolled her at a dancing school when she was nine, and she went on to train for the next nine years.

Rebecca was also a member of her high school’s dancing crew, and to stay in shape she played various sports, and often went running in a nearby park.

After matriculation in 1991, she didn’t to enroll at a college, but focused on her dancing career.

Rebecca danced at various events, and appeared on TV on multiple occasions before she joined the dance troupe Nitro Girls in October 1997, and thus became part of WCW – she chose ‘Whisper’ as her stage name, which is connected to her special gesture move: putting a finger on her lips to silence the crowd. Shawn was raised alongside his three older siblings Shari, Scott and Randy, by their mother and father, both of whom were in the military – as Shawn’s father was stationed in England when Shawn was young, the family lived there for two years. He was 12 years old when he decided he wanted to become a wrestler, and he first tried wrestling at his high school’s talent show. He was physically very active while attending Randolph High School, as he played football as a stand-out linebacker, and eventually became the school team’s captain.
