Stephanie Gosk is an American journalist, TV personality and news correspondent, who rose to prominence for her work in NBC programs “TODAY” and “NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt.”

Early Life and Family

Stephanie Gosk was born on 17 April 1972, in Londonderry, New Hampshire, USA. Little else is known about her early years; she would rarely mention her parents and never talked about any siblings which led to the belief by many that she is an only child.

Education

After matriculating from a local high school in Londonderry, she attended Middlebury College in Vermont, but halfway the semester she decided to transfer to Georgetown University in Washington D.C., feeling that she needed the challenge of living and studying in a big city, finding Middlebury College to be too rural for her, even if she liked the teachers and the school. She told her parents about it over the phone but the call was dropped. Her parents were not excited with her plans but said, “Well, that’s fine. We’re not going to get involved at all. And if she really wants to transfer, she’ll handle the whole thing herself.” Stephanie graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics in 1994.

Career

First Step

After college, she volunteered with the Peace Corps, and was stationed in the Dominican Republic. When she returned to the US she took a job at ABC News in New York City as a desk assistant and off-air producer. During her tenure there, she worked as a field producer during the Presidential elections in 2000, and for numerous breaking news stories locally. Later on, she developed a fascination for traveling, and accepted an assignment as news correspondent based in London. She also went to the Middle East alone to produce in-depth stories, while embedded within the US military stationed in Iraq, contributing news pieces for ABC flagship shows including “World News Tonight,” and “Good Morning America.”

For a time, Stephanie also accepted a post in Boston as an ABC News producer, and contributed pieces covering controversial news such as the Boston Catholic priest scandal. She also gave notable in-depth coverage about the 9/11 attacks, Hurricane Katrina, and the death of Pope John Paul while she was there.

Further Success

In 2006 she transferred to NBC, starting as ae networks news correspondent and covering stories from the London News Bureau until September of 2012. She was also responsible for contributing live reports about significant events around the world, including Osama Bin Laden’s death in Abbottabad, Pakistan, the heavy fighting in Libya along with Gaddhafi’s whereabouts, Murdoch’s News of the World hacking scandal, and the security risks during the 2012 London Summer Olympics.

She is currently seen on several flagship NBC TV shows such as “TODAY” and “NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt,” as a news correspondent for NBC News Investigations Unit.

Personal Life

Stephanie is a lesbian with a partner, TV personality Jenna Wolfe, with whom she had two daughters, Harper and Quinn.  She met her partner in 2010 and their love for extreme outdoor activities created a bond that led them to become a couple. They are both openly gay to their family, friends and colleagues, and came out to the public on 27 March 2013.  Jenna Wolfe was having a conversation with Matt Lauer during one of the episodes of NBC’s “TODAY,” when she was prodded by Matt on her big news. There she casually announced that she is pregnant with her partner, Stephanie, who was at that time worked as a foreign correspondent for NBC.

She and Jenna with their two daughters are currently residing in New York City.

Who is Jenna Wolfe?

Jenna Wolfe of American-Puerto Rican descent was born Jennifer Wolfeld, on 26 February 1974 in Kingston, Jamaica. Her father, Bennet Wolfeld was a Puerto Rican, and her mother Sheila Greenfels was an American from New Jersey. Her Jewish parents moved to Jamaica to expand the growing business while starting a family. When Jenna was five the family moved to Petion-Ville, Haiti, then when she was 15, the family moved permanently to the US.

Jenna matriculated from the State University of New York College at Geneseo or SUNY Geneseo in 1994, and graduated from Binghamton University with a Bachelor’s degree in French and English in 1996.

  • She was excited to be a mom, but not at the same level of excitement about carrying the child in her tummy. Jenna was willing to be pregnant through artificial insemination from an anonymous sperm donor. They both decided it would be best if they and their future kids do not know who the father was.
  • During the Matt Lauer’s sexual abuse scandal, she had the hard time reporting the details of the allegations as she and Jenna both worked with him for a long time. However, she felt she needed to do the job and find the truth about it.
