Who is Willa Fitzgerald?

American actress Willa Fitzgerald was born in Nashville, Tennessee USA, on 17 January 1991, making Capricorn her zodiac sign. She’s had roles in close to 40 TV series and movies, and is probably known best for starring as Emma Duval in the critically acclaimed crime comedy “Scream: The TV Series”, created by Jay Beattie and Jill E. Blotevogel, and which also starred Bex Taylor-Klaus and John Karna. It follows a masked serial killer who’s targeting a group of teenagers, the series aired from 2015 through 2019, and won three of its 13 award nominations.

Education and early life

Willa was raised in Nashville by her mother Judith Dohse and father Edward Fitzgerald, however, she hasn’t shared many details about them because they prefer to be left out of media; Willa hasn’t spoken about having siblings, and is thus believed to be an only child.

Her interest in acting was born while she was attending a local high school, and she was 16 when she made her debut film appearance, playing Vivian in the 2007 family drama “For the Love of a Dog”, which follows a family as they’re gathering money to pay for their dog’s medicine.

Willa didn’t appear in any movies or TV series in the following five years, wanting to focus on her education; she matriculated in 2009 and then enrolled at Yale University, from which she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 2012.

Roles in movies

In 2012, Willa starred in the short romantic comedy “Food of Love”, and the following year heard her voice the lead character in the short animated drama “Two Cheeseburgers: Part 3”.

The year 2014 saw her appear in the dramas “Wall Street” and “The Novice”, while she then starred as Emma Duval in the 2015 short horror “Scream: Killer Party”, which also starred Sterling Brim and Chanel West Coast, and follows a teenager who’s trying to hide from a serial killer. Willa only began attracting attention in 2017, when cast to play Tiffany in the comedy “Freak Show”, directed by Trudie Styler, and which starred Alex Lawther, Ian Nelson and AnnaSophia Robb. It follows Billy Bloom who’s attending a conservative high school, but has nevertheless chosen to run for homecoming queen; the movie was nominated for four awards.

In 2017 Willa could then have been seen appearing in the crime thriller “Blood Money”, and the action thriller “Behind Enemy Lines”, followed by the 2018 thriller “Beach House”.

In 2019, she portrayed Adult Kitsey Barbour in the popular drama “The Goldfinch”, directed by John Crowley, and which starred Oakes Fegley, Ansel Elgort and Nicole Kidman. It follows a boy whose mother was killed in a bombing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and who’s now become a criminal; the film was nominated for three awards.

Willa’s since appeared in only two movies: the 2021 thriller comedy “18½” and the 2022 action thriller “Savage Salvation”.

Roles in TV series

Willa’s debut TV series role was playing Lacey Sutherland in the 2014 episode “The Bogeyman” of the crime mystery “Blue Bloods”, and the following year saw her portray Emma Miller in 13 episodes of the comedy “Royal Pains”, created by John P. Rogers and Andrew Lenchewski, and which starred Mark Feurstein, Paulo Constanzo and Reshma Shetty, Paulo Constanzo. It follows the life of a diagnostic surgeon, the series aired from 2009 through 2016, and won two of its four award nominations.

Willa became popular after she played the supporting character Lola Laffer in the popular comedy “Alpha House”, created by Garry Trudeau, and which starred John Goodman, Clark Johnson and Matt Malloy. It follows the lives of four Republican senators, the series aired in 2013 and 2014, and won one of its six award nominations. Willa could then have been seen appearing in an episode of the crime action “Gotham”, the romantic comedy “Relationship Status”, and the crime comedy “Bull”.

In 2019 and 2020, she played the main character Colette French in all the 10 episodes of the crime mystery thriller “Dare Me”, created by Megan Abbott and Gina Fattore, and which also starred Herizen F. Guardiola and Marlo Kelly; it follows the lives of several cheerleaders.

Willa’s most recent TV series role has been playing one of the main characters Roscoe Conklin in the hit crime action “Reacher”, created by Nick Santora, and which also stars Alan Ritchson and Malcolm Goodwin. It follows Jack Reacher who’s been arrested for murder, but the police now need his help; the series has been nominated for four awards.

Other credits

Willa sang the songs “The Land o the Leal” and “God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen” in the 2017 episode “Part 2” of the drama “Little Women”.

Some of her recent talk-show appearances have been in “Build”, “Day by Day” and “Popternative”.

Willa was nominated for a 2015 Teen Choice Award for Choice Summer TV Star: Female and a 2016 TV Guide Award for Favorite Ensemble, both for her performance in “Scream”.

She was also nominated for a 2019 The BAM Award for Best Act, for her and her colleagues’ performance in “The Goldfinch”.

Love life and boyfriend

Willa avoids sharing the details of her love life with her fans, but it’s widely believed that she’s today in a relationship with American businessman, TV host and chef Gabriel ‘Gabe’ Kennedy, as she’s featured him in some of her Instagram pictures and videos.

It’s believed that Willa and Gabe have been together since 2017, as it was then that she uploaded the first picture of them onto her Instagram account; it’s known that Gabe’s the co-founder of the cannabis company Plant People, and that he holds a degree from both The Culinary Institute of America and Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration.

Willa seems to be in relationship with Gabriel ‘Gabe’ Kennedy as of April 2023, but is yet to confirm this; she hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.

Willa’s followed by more than 460,000 people on Instagram, and has uploaded close to 1,700 pictures and videos onto the social media network, with most of these showing her during her everyday life. She has a separate Instagram account ‘The Dog Flock’, which she’s made for her two pet dogs; this account’s followed by over 1,000 people, and 80 pictures have been uploaded onto it.

Willa’s passionate about puppeteering, and occasionally shows off her skills in her Instagram videos.

She’s physically active and works out at the gym a couple of times every week, and Willa’s an avid snowboarder too, which is only one of the reasons why winter’s her favorite season.

She’s an amateur photographer, and some of her Instagram pictures have been taken by her.

Willa’s favorite actress is Helena Bonham Carter, and some of her favorite movies include “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1”, “Fight Club” and “Enola Holmes”.
